Does Disney offer "last minute" deals to non Florida residents? By last minute I mean 3 - 4 weeks out.

A lot of times they get rid of last minute rooms by selling them to cast members and travel agents for really cheap.

Rare as I think they are usually sold out. Best pricing is usually on first day of booking as it only goes up from there. But, I do think the Mediterranean cruises are proving to be more like traditional cruise lines in that many people booked up front and then cancelled at time of deposit, so there are actually lots of open spots and prices seem to have dropped. That is rare for disney.

No, usually not available on DCL. Last minute airfares should be included in your reasoning. Metrowon

We have been booked for the Sept 8th sailing on the Magic since forever. The price has not moved since the day we booked.
Someone who has a contact with DCL said our sailing was not selling well and they sold a lot of the remaining cabins to CM's that work for Disney at ridiculously low prices.
So the answer to your question would be, "NO", unfortunately.

Wouldn't it be nice if they gave that discount or any discount to the cruising public?

It'd be nice but I guess it's a lot of work repricing a lot of bookings.
It also gives the illusion that DCL is always sold out without reducing pricing.
I thought it would be nice that they would upgrade the people who booked guarantees (me:D ) and sold the cheaper cabins to the Disneys CMs.
I can dream can't I? lol

I think the argument against last minute deals to the public is then everyone who went to the trouble to book early if they cant get the lower price feels robbed.
I know Id be willing to wait since I dont care which cabin they put me in if there were last minute deals.
Maybe its just smart so folks dont call in asking for the new lower price like they do on other cruiselines. Right now folks are pissed off at NCL because they have a special and old bookings cant get it.

I agree I don't think they would give last minute deals for that reason.

with a cat 12 guarantee do we actually get a room?:D
Last year we were on the 4 day Wonder and got a handicapped cabin right where the secret door was on deck 7. On next to the last day the decided to varnish out there. The fumes were terrible. I went to the pursers desk in hopes of getting a fan or something.
They moved us to a balcony room. It was very nice even if we only got to sleep there one night.

Yes we did a cat 12 last time too and got upgraded to a cat 11. The inside guarantees don't usually get upgraded to oceanviews or higher but it has happened.
I am pretty sure it was deck 7 that had the secret door. It was at the back of the ship. Nobody usually out there. It was a decent sized area that had about 8 loungers out there. Very quiet and peaceful.
Don't tell anybody I told you.:D
You'll love Disney. the shows are very good. We are 50 years old and going without kids.
Don't forget your pillowcases to get autographed.

Man, I keep hoping that pixie dust will land on us.
I am a former cast member (from the stores when they were disney owned). I have a disney room, with a touret that we have done like sorceror Mickey. ( well not totally done yet but getting there) as a side note, my favorite autograph is Timon(Nathan Lane). I didn't know about the pillow case idea, but that will make a great addition to our collection!
I will go in search for that secret door. And don't worry, your secret is safe with me. (Leave us a note in a hidden bottle;) )
Seriously, this is an in between cruise for us...DD, 24 and I are sneaking away. DH wants to go, but he and I are doing a Panama Canal cruise in November and his company seems to think that he should only get so much vacation a year...so he had to choose one or the other.

Bill It's no illusion! Sold out doesn't always mean 4/5 persons to a room. Sold out means, the rooms are sold out! Disney is not an Illusion filled cruise. I've met literally hundreds of person's who are cruising alone in any catagory of rooms. And why shouldn't Disney treat parent's of crew members like they respect the work their kids do, so as a parent here is your bonus? The thing is , if you want your choice of rooms, book early. This is not a Circus cruise line. Metrowon

You got a point there about the sold out status but then again every cruise line does that. Sells to Florida residents last minute to fill the ships.
So if you want to nitpick and say they are always sold out I guess you're right, but even the "circus" cruiselines do that so it's no great feat.
My point is they don't sell out with ALL full paying passengers.
As for getting the cabin I want I had that. It was a promenade balcony on the Liberty of the Seas. My wife wanted to go on Disney so here we are.
We'll have a great time as it's a great product but wasn't my first choice.:)

hey Bill..it's all good! We will have a good time down in the bowels of the ship! LOL....You and your wife can leave my dd and I a note saying what fun you had...and I can guarantee you , we all will have just as much fun as those in Cat 1.
I know my sailing is not sold out. There are still a lot of cabins available. Odd that they show 8 cabins per category with the exception of 2 of the higher ones. My guess is, they have more than that available and this is what they are showing.
I am thrilled to be going on this cruise. Are you guys doing Palo? Have you gotten your room assignment yet? We haven't!
I am looking at this as an adventure since I have never had an inside cabin. I was going to do the oceanview but then I thought, you know there is a lot of things we can do with that extra $500.

FL resident deals are fewer and far between so maybe the CM thing is offered first and mostly fills the ship. It's brilliant not to just lower prices to fill ships and have everyone calling in for their adjustments. Disney is smart with its money and if the employee perk keeps employees happier, win-win.

No Palo at this time although we are going to try to get a reservation. As a past guest on DCL we were entitled to get a Palo reservation at the 90 day point. The only catch was we had to pay off our cruise earlier. Since I'm stubborn and wasn't giving them my money earlier I got squeezed out.
That was my choice and I'm happy with it.:)
We haven't gotten our cabin assignment yet either.
We know we'll have a great time. We are in the process now of renting a villa for a week next summer. We'll be doing Disney for a week with my wife, daughter, son, his girlfriend, son in law and my grandson.

Which villas? We LOVE WDW. Up until our first cruise this year that is the ONLY place we went on vacation. Gee, what we missed out on, but oh well. We use to go a lot because we got great deals since we were considered cast members. (i long for those discount days)
We have stayed at every resort at WDW with the exception of AKL, Saratoga Springs, and Grand Floridian.

Not staying onsite. Looking at a villa with www.orlandopoolvillas.com
I'm doing some research before plunking down any $$$$.
This villa is only about $1000 for a week. A Disney villa is probably about that a night.:D
