From my understanding, the beauty of this cruise is that you don't HAVE to dress up. However, as we originally thought back in March this was a typical cruise with dress-up nights, we are going to go ahead and wear our "glad rags" anyway. We are planning on 1 or 2 nights. Gotta get the wear out of that dress! Just thought I would pass it on in case anybody else is thinking of doing the same thing!

We are sailing on the Journey Dec 23, 2007 to Jan 10, 2008 (Buenos Aires to Valparaiso) - that includes: Christmas, 40th Anniversary (Dec 29), New Years - we think that's reason enough to dress for the occasions! Hoping that other like-minded individuals will be sailing along with us for that special time of the year.

We are on Oct 6 (have you checked in at the roll call?)
One of the enticements with this ship for us is - NO FORMAL NIGHTS!! But we will admire how great you will look!!!

On the 6/23 sailing, didn't see a lot of people dressed up. They were more dressed in the specialty restaurants. I wore my dress to Prime C because I had paid to get it altered. DH wore casual pants and shirts. I myself like the casual dress. But, go for dressing up. Some people did.:D

I won't have a ball gown either! Hubby is going to wear a tux so I have to dress up to match him. You will love your cruise! We have only been on one before this one, but we loved it!:)

Wear whatever you feel like and have a great time. It's your cruise - you earned it...so make it exactly what you want.

Sorry to say I'm not on your cruise but if I was my tux would be at home and lonely in the closet.

The ships DRESS CODE is resort casual. To us, dressing formal would be similiar to wearing jeans on a formal night on the traditional Celebrity ships.

Thanks for your "heads up". This is what we found on the Azamara website. It looks like they are trying to cover all the bases with the proverbial "weasel clause" about doing whatever makes you comfortable. You do have a good point though. Our cruise is a celebration for us so we are going to stay dressed up a few nights.
Q. What is the dress code onboard Azamara Cruises?
A. Appropriate attire onboard Azamara Cruises is always resort casual; there aren't any scheduled formal nights. However, guests should always feel comfortable in wearing formal attire if they so desire. No bare feet, tank tops, caps, bathing suits, or jeans are allowed in the dining room or specialty restaurants. Additionally, no tuxedo rentals will be available onboard.

I still say - do what ever you want so that you remember this cruise exactly the way you hoped it would be.
That's the great thing about cruising. There are so many choices for everyone!
