.... doesn't accept weekend reservations for only one night?! We just tried to make reservations for our October cruise, and that's what they told us on the phone. We could book Thursday and Friday or Friday and Saturday, but not just Friday! Well, that's a bummer.... I really liked last time just being able to wheel our suitcases out the door and across the street....

I'm really surprised. I always stay overnight at that hotel before cruises, and I also appreciate wheeling my suitcase just across the street to the terminal.
I'm cruising to the Mexican Riviera on Sunday, November 25. I'll have to see if I will have a problem booking a room just for Saturday night.

Good luck, Donald! Let me know if you are successful. Maybe it was just for the weekend we tried to book, maybe they had a convention or a weekend special or something... but it was too expensive to book two nights there and not use one of them!!

It might be because you are so close to Halloween.

I contacted my travel agent and he reported that, as a test, he tried Friday October 19 and out on Saturday October 20, and the system allowed him. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding between you and the hotel? Do try again. If still unsuccessful, perhaps you should let a travel agent book the hotel for you?

We had a situation once in Ft lauderdale at the end of October. Between the International Boat Show and Halloween -- no one nighters.

Is that for every weekend, or just that particular one?
I was able to book a single Friday night for last October with no difficulty. As a matter of fact, I was lucky I booked early because eventually they sold out for that night (IIRC).

May KK is right, it is that particular weekend. We tried online and on the phone both, and no go for just one night. It makes sense I guess if they have something big going in town that weekend and they can't book the whole weekend because of single night cruise stayers, they are losing a day of revenue. But it was disappointing not to be able to stay there! We stayed there last October with no problem.

Oops, it was TWO October's ago, not last October!
OK, we've done a little more research. We've tried different dates, and it seems we can book a single night the weekend BEFORE our trip. When we called the hotel, the woman was really nice, and said they only had 50 rooms left and they were "holding" them for people who wanted to stay for two nights.
I guess the moral of the story is - book EARLY, before they run low on rooms!

Do they book 330 nights out? Anyone know? (we're booked on the Oct 1 2008 Westerdam Panama Canal cruise) I've started looking at hotel options, realizing I won't be able to reserve anything for quite a few months. That's the down-side to booking so far in advance, I guess:rolleyes:
ETA: 350 days out, I checked myself ;-)
