Door Deco & New Friends on Wonder Sept.13-16

Hi All!

This is our First Cruise. My Husband is a Canadian Soldier currently serving in Afghanistan (home in 24 days) and I have 2 Girls ages 9 & 6.

I have heard a little bit about Door Decorations...What are they? How do we do them?...What to include?... How much info is too much? We really don't want to miss out on any special things that only past cruisers know about...So thanks in adavnce for any tips you may have to offer.

Also looking to find others on our Cruise. We are doing Land and Sea --4 nights on the Wonder (Sept 13-16)

Howdy,

all the cabin doors are metal so the easiest way to do door decorations is:

Look by the computer specialty paper at your local wal mart or target for magnetic sheets. DCL approves if these too because they dont damage the doors in anyway.

After that it is all up to you. You can do many different things.
1. You can print off your computer on these papers. Many get free disney icons of characters and put on their signs and add their first names.

2. This is what I do because it is so simple even the grandkids can do it and help out.
I go to Michaels craft store or a card or craft store like JoAnne's and buy up disney and tropical stickers. I cut them out with the backing still on so they wont stick to the page and practice laying them out anyway i want. Once i see a design I like I stick them to the paper and it is done. Then take it with you and place on your door.

Example would be, Mickey laying in a beach chair in the center of page, maybe pluto off to one side with a beach ball and off to the other side is Donald holding a surf board. Then perhaps words across the top saying something like Castaway Cay or Life's a Beach or Just a bunch of Characters, what ever coems to mind.

Many will add room number so if it is taken it may find it's way back to their door.
Put it in a lower corner.

Some put a family photo in the middle of the page and say something like:

The Smith's Family First Cruise
9/22/05

There is no right or wrong to them. You can get letter stickers to write what ever you want or print off your computer.

I have seen kids photos on them and it says something like Celebrating Laura's 5 th birthday with Mickey on the Disney Magic.


Just have fun with it and let the kids each make one if you want, the door will hold several if you put them high and low on it.
Remember there is no wrong on doing them, it can be as simple or elaborate as you want.
This makes it much easier to find your room too.

I forgot to say one way to find others on your cruise is to go to the roll call section for disney.
The easiest way is to go to the top of the page your post in on. The first post there talks about roll call for disney in red letters, click on it and then on The Wonder or go to the main board and scroll down to roll calls and click on Disney and the on The Wonder.
Once there scan for your cruise date, if you find it then post there and get aquainted with others on yoru cruise.

If you dont find your date then hit the new thread icon and start a thread of your own. Be sure to put the date in the title box so people can just glance at the page and see when your going.

Your in for a great time. I have done 14 Disney cruises and one with Carnival and have 3 more Disney cruises booked.
