We have just returned from Alaska on the Oosterdam. It was great! The ship is beautiful and classy, just like the staff. We had an outside deluxe veranda stateroom. The bath was bigger than our first apartment bath. The shows were enjoyable. Drew the magician was unbelievable. My kids were so amazed at his magic that when we ran into him on the Lido he sat down and talked with them for over an hour. All the entertainers and crew were this personable. As for excusions...the whale watch in Juneau was the best. We were able to watch 12 humpbacks "bubble net feed". We have amazing pix of 7 whales with their huge mouths open above the surface. Our guide was so excited she could hardly speak. We kayaked in Sitka. It was very easy and smooth. There was a few small kids with another family and there weren't any issues with the kayaking. Will are already planning our return to Alaska on the Oosterdam next summer.:D :)

So glad you had a wonderful cruise! We also kayaked (twice) in Alaska, but we did it in Juneau and Ketchikan. FUN! We did the rain forest hike in Sitka.

Leigh3, I am so glad you had a wonderful Alaskan cruise on the Oosterdam. Were you by chance part of the Michael W Smith group that was on board this past week? The Whale excursion you did was it thru the ship with Allen Marine?

Don't you love those moments? You have given your children experiences they'll remember for years to come.
Thanks for taking the time to share with us your "whale of a trip" yuk yuk ha ha:p
I'll bet the Oosterdam staff liked what you said about them.

Leigh3,
Which cruise dates were you on? We just returned from the Oosterdam July 7-14. You must have been on the sailing following ours. Glad to hear you enjoyed it...we enjoyed it too. How was your weather? What room where you in? Our bathroom was huge too!:D
I have been back home for a week and still feverishly trying to get all my pictures downloaded to share. Busy work week.
Pictures are coming soon!!!!!

WOW! Glad you had such a great cruise. Wonderful for the kids! We love the Oosterdam. Sailed on her second cruise from a US port some time back, just after she came over from Europe for her first season.
Thanks for sharing your memories with us.
