My mom and I were offered a chance to upgrade from a veranda suite to a deluxe veranda suite for $350 each.
After discussing, I think we've decided against it - we were thinking we'd rather spend the extra $700 on spa treatments, shore excursions, etc. Did we make the right decision?? Or are we really missing out by not upgrading?

Theresa,
I think that's a decision only you can make. Different people put different priorities on the various elements of the cruise experience. For some the cabin is their #1 priority, for others it's shore excurisons, etc.
You'll have fun regardless of your decision. Enjoy!

I agaree with Roz, that's a personal preference. Either way, you'll have a wonderful time.

As Roz said, it needs to be what is right for you and your mom. Would I have made the same decision? No, but I can't imagine spending that kind of money on spa treatments. We've probably spent that on shore excursions, but other than a occasional massage for DH years ago, nothing on spa treatments.
Do what YOU prefer and you'll have a great time.

I agree with the other posters about it being a personal decision. But I would have trouble spending $700 for that upgrade.

That is totally a personal choice. There is no wrong decision.
Which ship?

If your mother and you love to pampered and enjoy the spa, then that is probably the right decision for you.
All of us on these boards have different priorites for cruises, cabins, how we like to spend our money, etc.
Do what you both feel will make your trip an enjoyable one.

Thanks for all your advice. Since this is our first cruise we probably won't know what we're missing anyway!
Plus, from what people have been saying it is really difficult to go back once you've had a really nice suite! We'll have to leave some experiences open for next time!!
