Hello
Does anyone know if the Journey has a Thalassotherapy Pool? I loved the one on the Summitt and am hoping that the Journey may have a smaller version.

Hi,
Journey has a VERY small T pool in the rear of the Spa area...looks like a hot tub. We decided it was too small to warrant paying extra $$ for it (not at all like on Mercury or the M ships)

Thank you for the reply.
How much do they charge?
How is the regular swimming pool? Do you have to climb down a ladder or does it have steps?

Art,
Sorry but I don't remember T pool cost (around $15/day). Steam room, lockers and Exercise room do not have additional cost. Pool is quite small...we didn't use it so can't give you much info. Pool area is comfortable, especially now that the new lounges have arrived.

Are you sure? The R-ships had a very nice Thalassotherapy Pool in front of the SPA. You had to go through the SPA to get to the Thalassotherapy Pool. When cruising on the R2 in 2001 Renaissance booked the Thalassotherapy Pool for the whole cruise for about $125 and had a quota on how many people could reserve it. It sold out within 24 hours. It was wonderful, holding a maximum of about eight people, and we enjoyed for the entire cruise, usually by ourselves as, even though the reservations were book for the cruise, few, if any people seemed to ever come while we were using it.

Guess it depends on what you call small. On Celebrity, the smallest T. pools hold 10-15 people and on the larger ships, they are more like regular size pools, so, to me, this one was small. I would guess that 8 people would be stretching it. You are correct, you access the T. pool by walking through the spa.

On the R2, we usually had the Thalassotherapy Pool all to ourselves as it was little used on our Asian cruise. Occasionally we might have one other and on the entire 21-day cruise only three couples once. Yet on a Celebrity Constellation Baltic cruise that had a Thalassotherapy Pool the size of a regular swimming pool it was so crowded that we were only able to squeeze in with the hordes of people on one evening. Larger isn't always better.

I thought that the steam room, followed by the tropical shower in the very llovely dressing room area was a hidden treasure. I followed that by the mineral bath on the deck right outside. Then a rest on the lounges in a very private area. How good can it get??
Hi sprilene! Was there a fee for using the areas that you are decribing? They sound WONDERFUL!!!!!!:D

MyMuggsy,
I'm not sure to which thread you're referring but certainly sorry that I didn't respond. There is only one Thallassotherapy pool and it is the one discussed in this thread, so I'm guessing it's the one I mentioned in another thread. If you can refresh my memory, I promise to respond this time :)

What is the T pool ??? And is it really worth the price?? I am already paying so much for this cruise!!! Why wouldn't they just allow the use of it for free?

The Thallassotherapy pool is different from a regular hot tub in that it does not have water jets. Instead it has a lot more bubbles.
Celebrity purchased two of Renaissance's "R" ships, which are now the AZAMARA sub-line of Celebrity. The Thallassotherapy pool is at the bow of the ship, and can only be accessed through the SPA. It's main advantage is that, at least on our cruise, was little used and thus my wife and I enjoyed our own private retreat for most of our pool visits. I was on the R ship when it was owned by Renaissance and they reserved the Thallassotherapy pool for up to the entire cruise. I don't know how much just a day was since we reserved our space for the entire 21-day cruise for around $125. It was worth it for us for the privacy. Renaissance limited the reservations and they were fill before the 2nd day of the cruise.
I have no clue about whether Celebrity/Azamara charges for use of the Thallassotherapy pool or not - you'll have to ask the cruise line or an informed passenger of Azamara that has actually used the Thallassotherapy pool.

One of my best cruises was on a ship where the spa showers had the multiple shower heads, it was heavenly relaxing. Are the showers in the spa like that?

They do not charge anything for it... Although, you have to walk through the locker room or Gym it is 110% free. I went in it a few times and thought it was amazing. It is a good secret - no one ever uses it!

I just posted this opn the jopurney secrets thread. I had no idea it was called a thellassotherapy pool.
0ne day I went there before a massage and used the " spa thing". Two other days I went there on my own. I was never asked for any payment. The locker rooms you walk through are part of the complex where the fitness center is and the fitness center and locker rooms are free so I can not imagine they would charge for use of that area.
By the way, there is a great shower in the men's locker room with four body sprays and one overhead spray. Really nice. And the steam room in the locker room is nice too. I was there 4 different days and it was I was alone each time.
The point of this is - on a crusie ship - you sometimes have trouble finding a quiet place for some space. These are great locations to get away from the crowds. (Not that the Journey was as crowded as some other ships)
