View Full Version : Turquoise Cabana on Half Moon Cay?

I know I risk everyone saying this has been talked to death, but I just booked the turquoise cabana on Half Moon for our November cruise. My girlfriend and I decided to surprise our husbands with this special treat.

All my favorites (based on the pictures on these boards awhile back) were gone already and I didn't want to be as far out as the yellow. Have any of you used the turquoise? Is it in a nice area, but not overly crowded (as in being by a walkway to the BBQ or something)? Appreciate any info!!!:D

Heather-

I think it is right next to the pink, which we had last April. Our CC friend had it and the front roll-up canvas wouldn't stay up and her fridge did not work - HAL refunded her $$$ because they never did get the fridge operating and she was unhappy with the condition of the cabana.

It it all canvas, unlike the pink which is wood and they didn't like it as well as ours... that said - I've read other posters indicating it was great. We were right off the path, so not far to walk - they both are a little ways down the beach - but not as far as yellow.

It is the PURPLE cabana that is canvas and next to the pink one, not the turquoise. :)

I do know that the Turquoise is between the Blue and the Orange and is wood, not canvas. I purposely did not get the canvas.Ziggy, I would love it if you'd report back when you return. Thank you!

Hi Heather:

Can you or anyone out there direct me to where the pictures of the cabanas on HMC were posted awhile back?

Thanks!

Mike

We are in the tan cabana. Any info on that one? We had our choice of that or yellow and the yellow is too far from the ship (we have kids with us that won't want to walk as far as the yellow). Is it wood or canvas and why is one better over the other?

Ok so I just booked the green one for December and now I am wondering (as it is next the yellow) if it is too far out...or just right for privacy and such? We were only the second persons to book these cabana's and having never been there, it was a hard thing to make a decision on the phone with the rep.

Any help would be great...I believe it is not too late to change it!

Julie, there's a great picture of the tan one on another thread. Go to "search" and type in "cabanas" and you'll find several threads. One of those has great pictures. The tan one is the closest to the ship and it's wood.

lemk, the purple one is canvas. Here's the order starting closest to ship: tan, blue (canvas), turquoise, orange, light blue (Ship's Services doesn't even list this one yet because it's new), purple, pink, green and yellow being the farthest.

Morrigan, the green one looks really nice, but it is far out. For privacy I should think it's perfect. But the others are closer to the BBQ, bathrooms, etc.

Whoops!!! Ziggy beat me posting and gave you much better info.:D

The locations of the cabanas, starting with the closest to the ship, is as follows:

Tan
Blue (canvas sides)
Turquoise
Orange
Light Blue (under construction)
Purple (canvas sides)
Pink
Green
Yellow

The Tan, Blue and Turquoise cabanas are the most convenient to the bathrooms. None of the cabanas are very remote, so getting to the food and bathroom areas wouldn't be much of a hike from any of them.

For us privacy is more important then getting to the bathroom real fast...so I think I will just be happy with Green...and indeed it looks fantastic for my family and I to enjoy our day!

Now if we can get tendered over without issue (calm weather)...the water is warm (warm weather)...then all will be perfect for my birthday!! :)

And again you prove to be a most Cool Cruiser Ziggy ;)

Morriganfae~they do provide rides to the cabanas, but the drop off of the yellow & Green cabana is at the pink cabana location. They do not go any further with the vehicles. We had the green cabana and had to walk in the sand from the drop-off point. One of our party is disabled and can't walk in the sand very well and two of the staff basically carried him to the green cabana. So your husband will have to walk from the drop off point. You may want to book the pink cabana if you are looking for privacy and also the shortest distance from the transportation drop-off point.

Well really I was worried about my ten yr old daughter...and well me too....she and I are pretty darn Irish and can have issues with direct sunlight. I can handle hot, I just need shade and this is why my partner and I decided to go for the cabana!

Now after looking at the pics on the link you sent, I think I will change to the light blue one. My thinking is that it is perhaps a nice central location without as much traffic. But then again it is a small beach and there is no getting around that! I also want my little one to have access to the friends I hope she makes.

Oh and I see in the pic of the beach that there is indeed massage available!! Or so there was in June when this was posted. I called HAL and was told they had no such service. I had read in a Frommer's cruise guide that there was, but figured that perhaps they discontinued this service.....but if the picture is still up to date then there is a massage on HMC in my future. Oh and I hope they are right about the prices....1.00 an hr, minimum of 50 mins!!

Thanks! We enjoyed your pictures as well!Have to tell everyone that isn't my picture!!! I didn't take it, I mean. It was just one I found as I was surfing around these threads. Wanted to let everyone know that:D . But I thought it particularly great and thought it was worth sharing.

Morrigan, be aware that the Ship's Services doesn't seem to know about the light blue one. I think it's under construction and they wouldn't take a reservation for 11/7 for it. Also, it is a pretty long beach and that yellow one is pretty far out. In fact when I was booking mine, the yellow was one of the few still available. And since it's the absolute cutest, I suspect it's because it's so far away.

See! There ya go again Ziggy.....being all helpful and stuff!! :)

I called today and changed our booking to the Orange. I did not want to be too close to what I could imagine is the main drag for the beach, and yet close enough to the bathrooms for the kidlet and massage tents for me!!

They did say that they are not booking as of yet for the light blue cabana, so even though it is in the pictures its not available to book. I think it looked like it was under construction in the pictures. So perhaps it will be done soon!

I just want to thank everyone who contributes to this site...it is a great community that shares it's experiences with others so that their experience can be as smooth, economical and wonderful as possible.

Heather -

We had the yellow cabana, and while it's the farthest away, it's also the most private. When we look at our pix, it's not apparent that there were 1,800 other people on the island - It looks like it was ours, exclusively.

Sparticus, thanks for the info on the yellow. I was really tempted to take that one because it looks so private. But it's a bit of a hike and I have some hip problems. Judging by the pictures, though, the yellow one really drew me in. Oh well ... we'll be just as happy with the turquoise.
