Does anyone know if there's a place to buy wine within walking distance of the Boston cruise terminal? Thanks.

The Black Falcon Terminal is in an industrial area and is a good walk to the closest commercial area. We did walk from where the Hop on Hop off dropped us off but it took about 30 minutes to walk. I don't believe there any commercial areas closer than a 20 minute walk and then not sure if there is a wine store.

:) :D :) :D

it's only a 30-40 minute stroll from the pier to the downtown area and Quincy markets, but there's nowhere in the immediate area.

If you're interested in beer there's the Harpoon Brewery just behind the carpark structure. Some interesting concoctions there (the Peach-flavored beer was something different!) as well as some decent regular beers. I think they do tastings as well...

I can't picture any liquor stores within reasonable walking distance of Black Falcon. We've never sought one but we've been to Black Falcon a number of times and I think you'd probably have to go to the Quincy Market/Fanuel Hall Area. That isn't very far but only a good walker would be comfortable going that distance especially if you were carrying wine on the way back to the ship.

Sorry, Vanders.... :) I was typing while you were posting.

Also, most of our wine is sold in Package or Liquor stores as are all alcoholic beverages. If you ask a native for a wine store they might look at you funny :p

Good point. We are in the 'burbs and only recently saw the opening of a few wine stores. We've always buy our wine in liquor stores.

And don't ask for 'pop'. :D We, in Boston, call it soda or tonic. ;)

Thanks. Our grocery stores sell wine so I thought something might be near the terminal. Since we can't carry wine on the plane, we were hoping to buy a couple of bottles for the cabin. That won't be easy in Bar Harbor either since we have to tender there. What are others doing who fly in?

We just buy everything either ship services or once we are on the ship.

I'm 20 minutes west of Boston, where are you?

Pink........ You can easily bring two bottles of wine on the tender in Bar Harbor. I'm not necessarily encouraging (or discouraging) you to lug wine, but it is no problem carrying a few bottles on the tender.

We do the same, KK. We live 30 minutes from Black Falcon and are not bringing wine with us. We never do.

Martignetti's on Cross St. in the North End is a "quick" taxi ride from the pier. Might be something to consider if you have a particular wine that they don't carry on ship.

That's what I was about to suggest, AuntieBon! Any of the liquor stores would be a taxi ride away. Nothing within walking distance.

Black Falcon is somewhat isolated .. you can reach nice shopping and residential sections of the city in as little as 10 minutes by taxi or you can walk (depending on where you're going, count on 35-40 minutes minimum)

Port Everglades, though, is really not that different though if you think about it .. to reach Las Olas or the beach area, you've got a 10-15 minute tax drive or 40-45 minute walk

what Boston and Port Everglades really need is a Havensight:D
