I am hoping that someone can tell me what the bathroom layout is for the category VD cabins 4175 and 4177 on the Zuiderdam. This is the first time we have cabins that have a "shower only", rather than the small bathtub/shower combo. Thanks.

What a coincidence! We will be boarding as you are disembarking and we will have those same cabins along with 4173. Would like to know the answer to your question as well.

Um - sink on one side, shower on the other and the toilet angled on the back wall...
(Can't possibly imagine why this matters...)

Just curious, that's all.

I love the 'shower only" you don't have to step over the damn bath tub that nobody uses to take a shower!!!

Some people do use the tub - and actually prefer it. I'm not one of them, but I'm married to someone who likes a bath. I like a tub shower because I like having the extra room. We're all different and it might matter to some people even if it doesn't matter to others.
So, are the showers in a shower-only VA the same size as the small-ish, separate shower in an SS or are they any bigger?

Amen, Amen I say to you! In my old age I seem to have developed a fear of falling, (probably one of those darn phobias) and those high climb over bathtubs aren't much of a bonus for me.
Actually, I haven't taken a bath in over thirty years! :D

IIRC correctly, they're a bit bigger.

When I was a little boy on my first cruise, the toilet was mounted to the ceiling...
...but that was aboard the Poseidon.

That is a funny coincidence!. I was curious about the size of the shower, as I am an "extra fluffy" person and was told by my TA that the cabins were a bit narrower than the others, hence no bathtub just the shower, so I was hoping that I was not going to have to wrestle with the shower curtain everyday! I was hoping and assuming that the shower would be approx. the same size as the other's, except no bathtub wall to step over. Will take good care of "your" cabins for you!

Some of us can walk but cannot lift their leg to enter into a tub. Getting into a shower from the floor is a real joy- one I hope you never have to experience.:D

LetsGoAgain, thanks! I hope you enjoy your cruise. Being a little on the 'fluffy' side myself, its nice to know they are a bit bigger. I never thought about the cabins being a bit narrower when we booked them. Since we're all shower people the lack of a tub wasn't an issue. We were happy to get all three cabins in a row. I also thought the shower only would be easier on Mom and Dad.

We are happy with the cabin location as well, only 1 floor down to the dining room! Am happy with the shower only, just had visions of my RCCL experience with the overly friendly shower curtain that they use in the tiny shower cubicle:) I do know that the verandah is a bit larger for these cabins, which will be nice for viewing the glaciers. Hope you enjoy your cruise as well.

I had come across the information that the verandas are a bit bigger, more depth, not width, than those on higher decks and that did appeal to me. I'm not sure where I found it and haven't been able to locate the information since!

DebOn the Vistas, Deck 4 VD verandahs are about 7.5 ft deep, the side VA/VB/VC are about 6 ft deep, and the Deck 5 VE/VF are about 4.5 ft deep.
In this picture taken from a deck 5 VC note how the deck 4 railings protrude.

This information is making me very, very happy. I never noticed the difference with the VE/VF on Deck 5, but they are clearly smaller in the deck plans. That is really a big difference between the VD on Deck 4 and the VE/VF on Deck 5.
Thanks, John.

That was a great scene!
You do look a little like a grown-up Eric Shea! He and his brothers Chris and Steve were friends of mine growing up. Chris and Steve were the voice of Linus up through the early '70s and Eric was tons of movies and TV shows in the late '60s/early '70s. They were good guys. Thanks for churning my memory. :)
