Hi Everyone,
I know its a long time till my next cruise, but I like to be organized.
Does anyone know where I can purchase a hanging door shoe holder? I live in the Port Macquarie area, have been searching everywhere since last cruise, but no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks
Deb

I used to have a really cheap one that I got from Crazy Clarks. It was clear plastic & held about 12 shoes. It was on a coathanger. Probably cost me no more than $3 :p

The ones we use at home now are a bit better quality. They're a nylon type material and we got them at Ikea for about $12 each. They hold 5? pairs of shoes and have a velcro closing at the top. They hang inside the wardrobe & really don't take up much room. I love them!

(I found that pic on ebay - there's quite a few of them there if you don't have an Ikea near you. Search for "ikea hanging shoe rack" and you'll find them :)

if you want the little pocket ones for putting all your odds and ends in then the cheapo shops are the go, that way they are smaller and fold really small. I got two for a couple of dollars each and they are still in suitcase awaiting the next trip.
i try to take as few shoes as possible so do not need the shoe holder

I wasn't going to use them for shoes , have seen packing lists that suggest they be used for all the little bits and pieces that you have , (The kind of shoe holder I was looking for was the plastic pockets kind) first aid, pens, post-its, you know all those fidly things last cruise i just put them in a drawer, but it was hard to find anything, ......................
Shoes... I take 3 pairs... formal, slip ons(casual) and walking shoes
Thanks for your help eveyone

Tks Deb - you beat me to it! This was on my list of 'must haves' as well. I'll check this weekend and if I find them I'm more than happy to buy an extra and personally deliver it to your cabin . :)

Deb,

Try Howards Storage World at the Harvey Norman complex, (Hastings River drive, you know the one!!) they have heaps of different things, I bought a wardrobe one like the one Minxy showed above last week.
Number 1 son moved home and took my "spare" room wardrobe:rolleyes:

Maybe some of the cheap shops in Horton St have them, but you have probably tried them, will keep a look out!!

Our Target is different to yours. Your is a supermarket isn't it? Ours doesn't sell groceries.

Minxy, had little shop with the hubby today and picked one up, (thanks for the tip Deb:) ) just perfect!! There was another one there that was more of a shoe holder but was all plasic, this one is better!! Also found a collapsable wash basket, folds down to nothing, and was in a brown hession like material, thought would be good for laundry, geez Geri and I will be loaded up for 28 days worth of stuff, hehe, it will be triple to what I am used to taking on a cruise, bulk shampoo, conditioner etc wont be able to duck down to Coles when we run out of something:rolleyes:

And this is what it looks like. I think it's better than the traditional shoe holder.

Saw those ones at Big W when I was out today and almost picked one up bit then found a shoe organiser at Red Dot (WA) for $2.99! It is made out of the same material as the green environmental shopping bags but dark blue. Has got 12 (I think) expanding pockets on the front of it. Nearly run out of things to shop for so it must be time to get going!

We found ours (shoe holder) at Prices Plus in Brisbane for $3.95 and also a collapsable laundry basket that folds down to nothing that we used to hold our shoes (family of 4) at the same place for $2.99. We actually took 2 shoe holders - 1 in the bathroom and one outside for bits and pieces like sunnies, cruise cards, cameras etc etc. Especially helpful with the kids to keep everything together. We use removable hooks to hang it up near the desk.

no offence but are you thinking of living on ship full time why would you take more junk onboard with you just travel light and enjoy your cruises and dont worry about shoe holders/ folding chairs/ soft drinks and all the other crap people want to take with them

No offence taken but....The shoe holder (organiser)makes my life easier...dont have to search for first aid kit when needed, can see everything at a glance , last cruise I had everything in drawers and it was hard in confined areas to find everything.
One thing I coundnt find when I cut my fingers was a bandaid, had to buy, $4.95 a packet of 10, found my own the next day..
I think tpo be organised gives me more time to enjoy my cruise.

If taking all your 'junk' with you helps you enjoy your cruise more, then I say take it.

I've seen people with stuff on our cruises that I wish i'd taken with me. And i've had people ask me where I got things, in the hope that i'd say 'on the ship', because they wanted one too.

Everyone is different. Some people take as little as possible, and others, like myself, take everything but the kitchen sink (but only because we'll already have a sink in the room ;))

When we do land based holidays we take as little as possible, unpacking and repacking suitcases betweens hotels is a reall pain!!

On my last cruises I havent taken any organisers or anything but what a great idea, they take up less room than my snorkelling gear! I dont have to fly to the cruise terminal so only have to lug everything on once and unpack once, and being away for 28 days anything I can do to keep the cabin in a tidy organised state I will take:) I hate mess and what I hated about my last cruise was sharing with four others (my children) and putting up with their stuff everywhere:mad:

I found that with 4 sharing a room the counter top seemed to always be full of bits of everyones 'stuff'. I am taking my travel organizer, its already packed (you can pack it and roll it up) with mini firstaid kit, medications, pens, notebook, puzzlebook, emergency sewing kit, earplugs, air freshenr, sunscreen, aftersun lotion etc etc. It can hang off a door, bed, just about anywhere. I think it's the one thing I will always take moreso than chairs or umbrellas etc.

Great idea to pack it first and roll it up, thanks, dont forget the "yellow" sticky notes to stick on the mirror to let the others know where you are:D

Our desk top was always cluttered with junk too. I bought an organiser yesterday. Couldn't get the one in BigW but bought one in the Reject Shop for $8 and it is heavy duty. Bought it not really knowing whether I was going to take it or not but think I will.
