What amenities do you know HAL offers but Celebrity does not? We can get into as much detail as you want. I'm just doing this project/spreadsheet for someone and I need some help. Plus, it's just good to know.
Thanks, Adam

This should be very interesting and I will be keeping an eye on this thread.
Thanks for doing this.

The Therolasopy (Spelling?) pool on Summitt was free. There is nothing to compare to it on Zuiderdam, but the SPA pool is not free.

Smaller ships! Have been with Holland America 4 or 5 times and particularly enjoy having less passengers and less space to traverse. Total of 15 cruises on various cruise lines.

Celebrity has smaller ships like Zenith and Horizon ( 50,000 tons) and at 70000 tons Century, Mercury, Gallaxy and they don't feel like mega-ships.

I personally am not a fan of fresh water pools but all pools on HAL are fresh water.

The last time we had a Royal Suite on Celebrity, we had just about no amenities. Did not begin to compare to HAL.
Among my favorite on HAL that we did not have on Celebrity are included laundry and dry cleaning; priority tender tickets, Neptune Lounge and services of Concierge, Private Suite Cocktail party with Captain and Hotel Manager.
Others are boutonnieres and corsages on first formal night; personalized stationery; suite lunch (though we never go :) )
Royal Suite came with services of a Butler. I have found the butlers to be pleasant enough fellows but more of a nuisance and underfoot than anything else. We have always been able to get anything and everything we needed/wanted tended to by our Stewards and the Concierges on HAL.

As mid-range price cruisers, we like both cruise lines, but if Celebrity would add a wrap-around covered Promenade deck like all HAL ships, it would inch ahead. Also, except for special deals we search out on HAL, Celebrity has cheaper prices overall. Sure like the HAL (S-class) ships better for their "nautical" not "hotel" feel. :)

Hal has:
Hot hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. They are excellent.
Ice Cream available in the Lido with all the topping to make your own sundae.( I don't think Celebrity has this, but I could be wrong).
A late nite buffet held around 11:00 in the Lido. (Celebrity has hors d'oeuvers type food in the public areas instead. )
All Hal ships have a clear dome over the Lido pool that opens and closes. It is very nice in bad weather. Some of the Celebrity ships do not.
Free Pop Corn available outside the movie theater.

Along with other things, the free cappachino is a nice touch

Hal has fresh squeezed juice in their drinks.
Celebrity has the best chocolates with their cappachinos

If anyone has sailed in an SS cabin on HAL please let me know if you get priority tender tickets, early disembarkation and a floral arrangement in the cabin. We sailed in an S cabin in January and are going again in an S cabin in November. But my sister-in-law and her husband are sailing with us in an SS cabin. We have tried to talk them into an S cabin since we really enjoyed all the perks.

HAL features those famous bingo announcements which Celebrity doesn't have.
I hate bingo announcements !!!

I'm feeling like a bit of a traitor...I booked our first Celebrity cruise next year instead of HAL. So I'll get a first hand experience of the difference between the two. I'm already sure I'll miss the Java Cafe capuccinos and the yum yum man. But HAL's price for the Baltic is so much more than Celebrity's and Celebrity is leaving out of Dover (which makes it nicer for me since I have family there).

It's possible there may be some possies in the SS......I hope so. Fresh flowers always add so much to every setting IMO
