Sorry, no you do not. :( Celebrity hands out champagne when you board and I think it is a nice touch.

I know people get sick of hearing about suites, but there is a bottle of champagne on ice in the suite cabins.

...someone is bound to send you a bottle of Champagne.

When my bosses go on big vacations, I always make sure that they have Champagne and flowers in their hotel awaiting them. So when I arrived in my suite on the Oosterdam there they were: TWO bottles of Champagne, a bottle of red wine and two trays of chocolate-dipped strawberries!

Isn't that why HAL gives you those little cards in your docs to hand out to your friends - so that they'll know how to order things for you?

:)

There was a time many years ago, when you went down towards the front office, someone would be standing there with a tray of glasses of champagne - not any more.

Also at one time you used to get a glass of champagne when you did the g
"get acquainted" spa and gym walk - now it is orange juice with a hint of champagne.

Since 9/11 we don't get gifts from our TA anymore and we are her biggest customer. But her boss said no more gifts for anyone.

etrainer,

A gift from a TA is nice, but I wouldn't change TAs for that reason alone. If KK is getting good service; recommondations of ships/itineraries, TA watching for price drops, quick returns of phone calls as well as good prices, I would stick with the TA (as she has).

Our TA at AAA sends gifts she has bought out of her own pocket. Ohio AAA doesn`t send gifts. As for the champagne, if it would be the same as what they serve at the Capts, party and the Mariners party, I`m glad they don`t offer it!.....jean

Your are right - not changing TA's. We have used the same one for over 20 years. I wouldn't think of changing. So many smaller travel agencies in our area have gone under since 9/11. And I wouldn't want her to buy us a gift out of her own pocket as she has 2 sons ready to start college in a year.

I was on the Zaandam last week to Alaska and when we boarded the ship on Sat the 17th all of the room keys were screwed up and no one could get in our cabins. What a nightmare with 1400 people all getting mad and trying to get in their cabins and then trying to get in the huge line at the front desk and then also trying to do the muster drill, change for dinner and getting ready for the actual sail time! ugh! Needless to say they did a free champagne reception the one night. I think it was Sunday night. We also had bought some champagne at the Vancouver airport and took 3 bottles on board for the week. That was great!

A better boss, or at least a better Travel Agent. Champagne is the least your TA could do for you.

WOW - lucky you!

We were on the Oosterdam (or trying to get on ) Feb 29, 2004. HAL's computers didn't accept that date (the only cruise ship in Ft Lauderdale that had problems). We were among the first in line at 11:20 and didn't get on the ship till 1:10 and still had to go to front office to have our pictures taken for the umpteenth time!. We were supposed to have life boat drill at 4:15 for sailing at 5. Life boat drill was cancelled until the next day. People were still getting on the ship at 6. We sailed around 6:30 - 7 (can't remember the exact time). And no one got anything extra - not even a drop of champagne.

KrazyKruisers - you boarded the date that I stepped off the ship!
(I wonder if I got the taxi you arrived in, 'cause we were one of the last ones off the ship...)

I'm sure that the HAL computers for the Oosterdam sailing were messed up because of us. Our Charter host mentioned the evening before that HAL would need extra time to "de-Gay" the ship before the new passengers could board... (He-he)
