:) Hello.....ok another fun question......for all you HAL folks!...I have sailed Celebrity 3 times...twice on CENTURY...there has been staff on both my cruises that remembered me on the 2nd cruise...really special people...one is a bartender named Erol...he will always be special to me...just one of those truely "nice people".
Who are some of your favorite people...and If I may...anyone who has been on the Zuiderdam...can I get ya'lls replies too?:) I would love to pass on hellos....its a great ice breaker for me as well;) ...and I know crew and staff love it when past passengers remember them too!

Imam (Hunky Dory) was the character who gave us our trays at the Bistro in the Lido Restaurant in 11/03. From the very first day he remembered our names anywhere we saw him on the ship. On our May cruise he had been replaced by Shy, another memorable Lido steward who not only remembered our names, he sang me a little song (I want Candy) every single time! I have heard his contract is up and I'm hoping one of them will return to the ship for our November cruise. Funny how such a little thing can make you feel so special! That's only one of the many reasons we sail HAL almost exclusively.

Hi Tommy:)...to be honest...I had a cruise booked on X....unfortunetly I had to cancel due to unforseen circumstances....
Looked around and HAL had a great price for a solo....so...I am going to give them a try! Hoping I have a wonderful week:)

Add another vote for Hunky Dory!! I was in line at the Lido and asked one crew member how he was and he replied "Hunky Dory"!! I told him "So YOU'RE Hunky Dory!!" and proceeded to tell him he was famous on my message board. He seemed VERY pleased to hear that.

Getting to know Ibnu and Bernie was a highlight of our recent Maasdam cruise. We spent a lot of time at dinner every evening with both of them and hope to be on a ship with them again.
Bernie is headed to the Oosterdam, btw. :(

Our cabin steward - WIDI - like the "breakfast of champions" or so he said. What a great guy!

KK......
Ibnu is currently on Maasdam. We ALWAYS enjoy sailing with him. Isn't he fabulous?
Twinkle joined Maasdam last Saturday. She just returned from vacation to take over from Telly.....who is just starting her vacation. They are two very special ladies who had to be pretty terrific at their work to get promoted to their positions. Good for them!!

We saw Twinkle in November and she said that when we got on the Maasdam she would be on vacation. Telly came and looked us up as Twinkle had told her when we would be on the ship. Both are great ladies. Twinkle was so anxious to get home and see her little girl.
I remember Bernie saying that he was going over to the Oosterdam. When we talked to him he didn't seem very happy about it. Said he liked the smaller ships better.

I would say 'didn't seem very happy about it' is putting it mildly. LOL. Actually it was said no one involved with the dining room wants to be on the Vista ships and count the days till they get off. Too big, too crowded, too understaffed.

We were delighted to see that Raul had been promoted to Bar Supervisor....He and Delphin are fabulous gents. Raul was still a bartender when we were on Maasdam in November......He looks great in his "New" Uniform :) and is wearing his promotion well.

Our favorite has been Ari, the Yum-Yum man on our Zaandam & Amsterdam Alaska cruises. We'd almost booked the Volendam because he was to go there after the Amsterdam, but the Zaandam sailing date worked better for us. We were VERY happy to find HAL's plans for him had changed and he was on the Zaandam instead.
As my DB & SIL boarded the Zaandam Ari greeted them and asked about where the rest of the family was. We'd heard about crew remembering passengers on later cruises, but this was our first experience - cruises 9 mo. apart.
My father is now sold on cruising, and on HAL, because of Ari.

You`ve all mentioned most of my favorites, Dolly, Ibnu, Twinkle, Ari, but heres a few more. Elmer, Emilito and Roman...bartenders. Edmond, Caesar, and Lucio Deck stewards. Sandra, Vanessa, Heidi and Allen Bar stewards, and an all time favorite....Jonathon, his picture is on the home page of HALs web site serving drinks. Have lost touch with him, anyone know which ship he`s on now?
Oh I nearly forgot...Charlie, the best wine steward.....jean

Jean....
Charlie is currently on Maasdam. We had some great chats with him. He is absolutely darling and could not have been nicer/friendlier. We were delighted to see him there.

I've already forgotten most of the names however the one I do remeber was on the Z this past May. She was a cute little waitress named Harlynn who worked mostly in the sportsbar. Last year on the Z, also in May, I remember a bartender named Rudy who was quite entertaining.

I was on the Zaandam last week.
Our cabin steward Loede was great.
And in the Rotterdam dining room we were well taken care of by:
Yulian
Made
Joost
Also Carlos and Lis were extremely helpful.
We had not bad experiences with any of the crew members!

We appreciated "Fleurdelis" on the Zuiderdam in June 2003. She was gone when we cruised again on the Zuiderdam in November 2003. She worked in the Crows Nest (also in the Crew Show) and always had a cold Beck's and a smile for my husband. Hope we run across her again some day!

We also met Hunky Dory on our cruise last week. He made sure your day was started off in the right direction. HAPPY... He is such a delightful person. It amazed me that he could remember so many names. Our dining staff was Kur and Wayan Ali. They were very nice. While they were very busy they still found the time to visit. We also enjoyed talking to Presti the assistant Matrie D.

KK.....I meant to add that Myleine is now in the Crew Show. I don't think she was in the show the last time we saw her. She did a great job....as did all of the cast.

Any time we have been on a ship with Mylene, she was always in the crew show.
This last time on the Maasdam, she was in the show and was also one of the directors.

Ahh, dear sweet Buddy. Was on the Statendam in 2002. Greeted us each morning with our coffee, perfectly creamed, as we reached the end of the breakfast buffet .. and then there's the names I never knew of those who served breakfast and were so willing to help and go the extra mile. In fact, I can't think of a single cruise that there hasn't been at least a couple of very special people.

The gentleman was amazing - not only did he great me every morning at the Lido, he'd always ask "Where's Molly?", my daughter, who liked to sleep in. But when I'd bring her up for breakfast, he'd tell her how glad he was to see her. In the main dining room, He was a waiter at a table other than mine, but I was visiting with a friend and as he walked by he said "Would you like some more coffee, Joe?". I wrote HAL and told them what a wonderful man he is. On the last formal night, my daughter (10 years old) sought him out because she wanted her picture made with him. As another poster said, he'd make sure that your day started out on a happy note.

Lois, these are the best!!! :)
I also remember Hunky Dory. Fabulous! Always a smile and never forgets a name! Look for him as the man who hands you your tray at the end of the line in the Lido buffet.
But, also be on the lookout for "Danny Boy", who works in the Deli Section of the Lido. An absolutely fabulous individual who always has a smile in spite of so much personal obstacles in his personal life. I truly respect, admire and hold a special place in my heart for this man. Please look him up on the Zuiderdam.
Other people that I truly l care for are included on each and every cruise. I couldn't even begin to tell you about all of them. I just disembarked the Maasdam and will give you a few names here. We can start with Fernando in the Ocean Bar or Raul as one of the Bar Supervisors. Or, Charlie (who, by the way, did a fabulous job emceeing the Crew's Show) Telly is a woman that I highly respect as Maasdam's Bar Manager at the time I was onboard. Not only very capable in her position, but also beautiful and personable to match! I could go on and on, but this is just a start.
Lois, one of your best experiences cruising with HAL is meeting and getting to know their wonderful crew. By far, this is an area that I will never forget!
Please let us know if you agree as we do after your return.

Add Edrick from the Volendam. He worked the Lido pool area and would bring me lemonade every day. Very nice young man. One reason I liked him, he asked if I worked out everyday. I KNOW he was only being nice but an older woman loves to hear things like that. And, no he wasn't flirting, just being nice. Maybe looking for a tip (he got one) but I didnt' care. He took very good care of everyone, not just the ladies.
