We usually check in the night before we sail and leaver the car for the
duration. Both hotels plus others we have checked charge a substantial
amount for the extra parking. We have now discovered LaQuinta in Ft
Lauderdale who charges nothing extra. Is there some sort of a drawback
by staying there?

In many port cities there are hotels that offer free parking for the duration of your cruise and provide a free shuttle to the pier and back.

There are multiple La Quinta's in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

The one listed as Ft.Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport is the nicest. ( I have stayed there and also stayed at another one in Ft. Lauderdale) The neighborhood is not exactly beach front but there is a small shopping center close by where you can eat. It is a nice hotel.

Thanks - that is the one we picked. We live in Sarasota and just need to recover from Aligator Alley. Our mind will be on embarkation.

There is no catch. I use to work at a Homewood Suites in Seattle and they had the park and fly program. You buy the room for the night at 119 and then you can park there as long as you like for free. It was very safe and we had 24 hour security that checked the parking area 3 times over the night hours.

Anytime! I hope you have fun on the Oosterdam. I have been twice on the Oosterdam in Mexico and I loved it. By far my favorite staff, but most of them go home in Sept I guess. Maybe I will see them on another vessel in the future.

We always stay there priot to the cruises and leave our SUV in the lot and never have had a problem. Good transportation to tthe port and easy to get a cab back to when home.

Have also used the one in Tampa with excellent results.

We live in Orlando and drive to the ports the night before as it is cheaper than parking at the docks and are much more relaxed when do not have to drive all day..
