I think HAL must have the worst web page of any cruise line, and maybe of any web page on the internet! Their links are not working again today.
We are driving to Ft Lauderdale from Memphis. We have done that in the past and parked at "Park 'n' Fly". However, their rates keep going up. I paid $70 in March for a 7 day period.
Has anyone tried another parking lot/garage that's reasonably secure, close and priced? I don't need to park inside, but I also don't want to place too far off the beaten path and not well lighted at night, etc.
Thanks!

There are parking garages for the different ports but do not know what the current cost is! Contact Port Everglades and ask them the price and which terminal.

We always park in the parking deck at Port Everglades. It is right next to the HAL pier(s), so it couldn't be closer, and it as safe as could possibly be, seeing that anyone entering the port goes through security first and has to show a reason for entrance. It was $12/day the last time we were there and we think it is worth the price for all these reasons.
The Embassy Suites allowed parking if you stayed there pre-cruise. There is an attendant 24/7 and it is within the hotel grounds. It was $6 several years ago, but I don't know the cost now. We personally would not leave our car in an unattended outdoor lot in Ft. Lauderdale for any length of time, but that's just us.

Sarplum recently posted that La Quinta will let you park free for the week if you stay there the night before embarkation. Here is the thread (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=606398).

According to their website, park n fly is still $70 for a 7 day cruise.
Midport Parking at the pier
Parking Fees
$2 for 0-1 hour
$5 for 1-5 hours, and then $1 per hour thereafter up to daily maximum
$12 daily maximum
$15 daily maximum for oversized vehicles up to 40 ft.
At one time PnF had specials (1 day free with 6 paid) with a coupon from HAL, don't know if they still do that. In addition, they had some specials posted when you pulled in to park. This was 2 yrs ago.

I am as critical as anyone in the CC HAL forum. However, when I logged on to the HAL website yesterday, it did state that it would be down for maintenance Saturday night/ Sunday. I guess they have to do this on their schedule, not ours. I'd cut them some slack...

For 7 days-10 days we always park in the Garage..It's directly across the street from the HAL pier..We travel with friends & share the cost of the gas & parking..
For our 26 day cruise however, we with our Friends are renting a van each way...We need a van to transport all of our luggage.. LOL
Enjoy your cruise..:) Betty

Regardless of the cost, the Port Everglades parking garage is worth it for the convenience and the security it affords your car. After our two last cruises we stayed on in Florida for a month so our car was loaded with a great deal of items that were "not wanted on voyage". We didn't worry a bit with all the security around the port.
Also, when you disembark, the last thing you want to do is fool around with taxis getting you to your car location. You want to hop in your car and GO!!

Heck, I used to maintain web pages, so I understand maintenance in occasionally necessary, and that things do go wrong from time to time. But I've had numerous web site problems that were outside their posted schedule. This isn't anything new. I finally had to call and speak to someone to confirm we were on the tours I booked. I never did get a written confirmation.
No, I stand by what I said earlier, HAL's website is without doubt the worse cruise line web page I've used. They are a GREAT cruise line, maybe my favorite, but my praise doesn't extend to the web page.:)

Thanks, I checked those out and Park n Fly is $10 a day plus a $5 "handling fee" or something along those lines. The Continental, which someone else recommended, was around $20 less expensive. I'll also check out the parking right at the pier like someone else suggested. Maybe it makes sense to pay a few dollars more to have that added security.
Or, maybe I'll just bit the bullet and arrive a day early and use a hotel lot. Never done that, but a hotel room can't cost much more than parking!
