Has anyone stayed at the Mafolie Hotel in St. Thomas. We were happy with Hotel 1829 but want to try another boutique hotel post cruise.

Sorry can't give you a report on Mafolie.
We stay at Marriott's Morning Star Beach (which is next to Marriott's Frenchmen's Reef). We like the Morning Star section as it is a small hotel within the larger complex right on the beach.

I haven't stayed at Morningstar but I have booked clients there and they really like it. INtimate and on the beach but you can use the facilities of the larger Frenchman's Reef (with it's great views of the harbor and sunsets)

I stayed at the Mafolie both pre-cruise and post cruise this past March when I went on my Seabourn Legend voyage . When I went pre-cruise I was only there one night and they have a 3 night minimum so I got a run of the house room . It was 97 steps down to my room . The Mafolie is on the side of a hill with beautiful daytime and nightime views of St Thomas . It also has one of the best restaurants in St Thomas , but beware that it has a lot of steps . I booked a room for 3 nights upon my return and got a "suite" so to speak . It did not have as many steps but when I showered there was a vent that opened in the restaurant and I could see people walking around while I was showering. I don't think they could see me :o .They have a "shuttle" into town . It is basically a pickup truck with 2 benches in the bed. She goes when she gets the daily mail . You will need to get a cab back which is inexpensive . It wasn't bad for the money but I would stay elsewhere next time. The guests were friendly around the pool and I always had dinner companions so that was nice !!!
Just be aware that you will have to use steps when you go just to get down to the hotel so if you happen to have mobility issues it may not be for you . Oh I almost forgot .. in the first room I went barefooted on the floor and had to wash my feet as they got black from the floor. I laid out some towels from the bath to the floor so I wouldn't have to step on the floor again. I still can't complain because it did not cost much !!
