HAL on Travel Channel Tonight!

I am watching the Travel Channel right now-all about Alaska and lo and behold all of a sudden they focus on cruising in Alaska and there was the Nieuw Amsterdam and the Veendam. They interviewed Capt Peter Harris while he was master on the Veendam! We were fortunate to sail with him on our SA/Antarctica cruise last December and January. We would like to sail with him again! Hopefully, the Travel Channel will show this again.

The show is a couple of years old. I remember seeing it. If someone would post the title of the show I can check TIVO to see when it will be on again.

Sorry I missed that one. I'll have to check when it's back on air. This may sound funny but I tape all the cruise ship shows on the Travel Channel. Yep - I'm that addicted. :p I don't have this one for Alaska - I have the Radience of the Seas sailing. Maybe TVGuide online has the next viewing dates.

I figured that it must be more than a couple of years old since the Nieuw Amsterdam left the fleet a few years ago - she became the Patriot in Hawaii.

In any case, I would love to see that show. Hope someone can find out when it is going to be shown again.

Nieuw Amsterdam is now sailing in Europe.....under lease from HAL.

HAL's old Nieuw Amsterdam is currently sailing with Britain's Thompson Line as the Thompson Spirit. Her HAL sister ship, the Noordam, will be joining the Thompson Line as the Thompson Celebration, next year. From what I'm told the Nieuw Amsterdam is much loved by those who cruise on her with the Thompson line, and they're looking forward to receiving the Noordam when she leaves the HAL fleet.

I think the title was something like "Alasksa Wide Open" - it was not just about cruising, but covered the different ways to see Alaska. I'm sure it was a dated show, but it was still good to see HAL and Captain Harris featured in it.

It is a very dated show. Saw it a long time ago. Nieuw A was turned over to American Hawaii cruises after the Sydney Olympics, and that's nearly 4 years ago, so that show has to be over 4 years old.

I checked Tivo last nigh and searched on Alaska, then tried under Travel. It did not show up. Sorry.
