Just a heads up for those who are interested and enjoyed his Veendam blog. HAL Captain Albert Schoonderbeek, who can usually be found on the bridge of MS Veendam, has started his blog up again. He is currently on vacation but has joined his wife Lesley on Majestic Cruise's Ocean Majesty for a Iceland-Greenland cruise.
His blog can be found here:

YW Tom C.:) Great inside stuff one would normally not hear about! He's got a sense of humor also, reading in between the lines about the toilets, little old ladies and his wife and the shoe sale

Very well, thanks Meg!:) Hope with you also!
Things are good...it looks like I'm going to have to cancel my upcoming cruise :( but other than that bit of depression all is very well! Maybe I'll get lucky enough to rebook something next year....

It's a great blog, Ruth. If you feel so inclined, you can go back to April of this year (on the right side of the page) and follow Veendam trans-Atlantic, into the Med. and from there to the Baltic. He offers really great insight into the inner-workings of a modern cruise ship

Wow, that man has a true love for the sea - isn't it funny that with all the days he spends aboard a cruise ship, he chooses to use his vacation time to go on another. Sure wish my DH enjoyed it as much!!! (he's getting there, but he's not quite a fanatic yet)
Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

When we sailed on the Veendam last year we gave him and his wife slippers and it seems that they are geting good use out of them now.
Glad to see that they are taking some time off to enjoy life...
