At approximately what time may we expect to be off the ship when returning from Bermuda? We are trying to figure out the earliest time we should book Amtrak from Newark. Also. which station would be better, Newark Penn Station or Newark Airport? Thanks.

We were told that the ship would start to disembark around 9:00AM but last week it did not start until around 9:30AM. Once it started, the disembarkation went quickly.

If you are a diamond member they start dis-embarking at 8:30. All other is suupose to start at 9:00.

Now comes the catch, very often due to fog and other weather consition the ship may be docking late

I don't know if this is true of your ship, but on the Constellation you take a shuttle bus to the terminal, find your luggage and proceed through customs. This adds about half an hour. We were in our limo at 10:00.

You need to add some time to get a taxi.

I can't imagine going to into the city of Newark is faster than the airport. However, I don't think there is an Amtrak stop in the airport.

You might want to post this on the east coast departures board. You might get more responses there.

There is both Newark Penn Station and Newark Airport Station. The Newark Airport Station is connected by a Monorail to the Airport Terminals.

As for what time the other person should book the train. I take the train to and from every cruise out of Bayonne and I don't make a reservation in advance. When I get to the train station I buy the ticket for the next train that is coming. It has never been a problem getting a ticket for the next train.

Thank you for all the information. I didn't realize that the train ran that often. Is it easier and safer to go to the airport train station than the downtown Newark one?

There are a lot of trains but what will be your destination? I live in Washington DC and on the weekend it runs every hour to here.

If you go use the airport train station you will have to take a cab to the airport and then transfer to the monorail. If you go to downtown Newark the cab will take you directly there. I would think it easier to not have to take a cab then catch the monorail. I don't think there is a safety issue involved. Not all the trains stop at Newark Airport so Newark downtown I think is better since they all stop at Newark downtown. The only other issue I could see would be if one was a cheaper taxi fare. I don't know the taxi fares since I have been getting a ride to the train station.
