View Full Version : The natives are restless

Missed a phone call from my travel agent today (20- 6 year olds make a lot of noise) so it went to message bank.

One child insisted it was from my mother saying she couldn't go on the cruise with me:D (I told them about the cruise for news on Monday).

Anyway, when I replayed the message she strted off by saying P&O rang:eek: (worried now) and said the natives are restless in Wala (couldn't help but laugh) and our cruise will now go to Champagne Bay instead of Wala.

Anyone been there? what's it like?

Champagne Bay is nice Lynne
Walla is my favourite South Pacific Place but you are going to a really nice bay anyway. It's north of Luganville on the same island (good thing it's not the choice)

Do you have any other info about the change? we are meant to be heading off in a couple of weeks with Wala included.

I agree with ADF....heaven on earth. Wala is lovely but personally, I prefer Champagne Bay. I would be thrilled if my TA rang to say one of our ports had been changed to Champers.

From the original post, this time the phrase "the natives are restless" actually means that the natives are restless.

Hmm, I hope all is settled before we cruise though. Our itinerary has both Champagne Bay & Wala included.

I find this is disappointing - but for a strange reason.

Pacific Sun cruise N730 (1 October) was due to leave for Wala. Its course was scheduled to cross that of Pacific Star en-route from Vila to Brisbane on 4 October. It would have been a pretty unusual event, but since the Sun is going to Champaigne Bay instead, it may not happen due to the slightly different route that Pacific Sun would take.

Does anyone have the approximate co-ordinates for Wala and Champaigne Bay? If they're in the same vicinity, perhaps this unusual event still might happen.

On our last cruise we had a little issue running aground on a coral reef ;) As such we lost a day and had 2 days at Isle of Pines instead. We were scheduled to go to Wala on that 2nd day and then Mystery Island on the 3rd day. When we finally got underway they told us that we'd be going straight to Mystery Island and that they'd chosen to do Mystery Island instead of Wala because in their opinion Mystery Island is nicer than Wala. I haven't seen Wala or Champagne Bay in person but from the photos i've seen of bot, Champagne Bay looks much prettier. With a bit of luck P&O might even give you some onboard credit for the inconvenience ;) :)

I liked Wala. The tour around the island looking at the different displays is interesting. But I'm happy to see a different island.
I'm assuming earlier cruises wouldn't go to Wala if the reasonjing (restless natives) is true.
I'd just be happy to get my tickets. I had another call today from my TA to say she's got tickets for people who's cruises are after ours. She ewanted to check that I'd completed the cruise personaliser online (which I have),
Now I'm worried again.
I actually sent an Email to the Customer Relations Dept about my last cruise. Hope this hasn't got anything to do with it. Maybe they don't want me on again.LOL
It wasn't bad. I just mentioned that we were not impressed with having to go 7 hours without food on the last day. The ship was 4 hours late.

Personally, I think Wala is better than Mystery Island. We went to both on the same cruise, on Pacific Sun. Of course, the day we were at Mystery Island it was pouring with rain, and you could hardly see the Island, so that may influence my view. I haven't been to Champagne Bay, so can't comment on it.

Personally I love Champange Bay. I wouldn't be too upset if we went there in January instead of Wala and I know that Aunt Frog would be happy too.. One of the only reasons she booked the cruise they are on at the moment was because it went to Champagne Bay and then it was shortened and it was removed from the itinerary!

It is a little disappointing as Wala does give you a look at Island living in it's pure form. But hey if they don't want us we can go o a beautiful beach. Even my Mum (Suey) got into the water at Champagne Bay. It was a fantastic temperature and with a high salt level was easy to float in.

Cheers,
Charmain:)
