Hi all,

Lurker here, but I have a question as my sail date approaches! I'm booked on the Ryndam Oct 7 from Vancouver to San Diego. Coming from the Seattle area, my bf's sister and I are planning on taking the Amtrak from Everett at 8 and arriving in Vancouver at 11:30 am. If anyone is familiar with the Vancouver area, how far is the train station to the pier? Thanks!

According to Google Maps, www.google.com/maps (http://www.google.com/maps), the Vancouver Amtrack Station is 1.65 miles from Canada Place (the cruise dock).

The San Diego station is just a couple of blocks away from the pier.

If you haven't yet bought your Amtrak ticket for the Seattle/vancouver run, buy it now. They sell out.

When you get to the Vancouver station, exit the front of the station. The skytrain stop is ahead of you and just across the street. You will see the station/track above you. We weren't able to find anything except for a long, tall staircase to haul our suitcases up to the station. There might be an elevator somewhere.

Take the Millennium line or the Expo line towards Canada place. Get off at Canada Place. It is a very short walk to the check-in for HAL. Fare is 2.25 and can be purchased at the automated ticket seller before you get onto the skytrain.

Except for the initial staircase, we found the skytrain to be close enough to the train station and to the check-in for HAL to be very conveinent. The skytrain runs frequently and takes only 6 minutes to get to the pier.

Thanks hobbit! I'll definetely get my tickets this weekend (after payday!)... Do you know if I can pay with a MC debit card? As for San Diego, I know my way around since I grew up there :) I can't wait for my sailing... Even though it's a short repositioning cruise, it'll be my first one! She convinced me that we should book a verandah suite... too bad it's not a superior, but we're planning to have room service in the morning!

We live in Everett, and have taken the Vancouver-Seattle cruise before and we are booked on the Vancouver-San Diego next month. For the first one we took Amtrak from Everett, and we walked from the station to Canada Place. It was a really nice, easy walk, no problem. For this next one, we booked the transfer through Holland America. For $50/pp they will bus you from SeaTac to Canada Place. This way our car will be right there when we fly back from San Diego. Either way is good IMO. Have a great cruise!

YES there is an elevator at the Vancouver Amtrak Skytrain station. From the depot, turn left, and walk toward the station. CROSS the street, there is an elevator. Level 2 is the ticket machines, you need Canadian money, there is an exchange at the Amtrak depot. Third level is the boarding. Take it to the end- Waterfront station. It is a couple block walk to Canada Place. KEY, is to have quality rolling bags and pack light.
