Ok, so I've taken my search for images and information to Google and found this 18 minute video. It is a presentation for prospective crew members and is full of information on the management structure of a ship as well as some nice images.

After watching it I think I'm ready to sign up! Now I just have to convince my DW of the career change!;)

Thanks, diveoz, for the link to that very interesting video. Like you, I think I'm ready to sign on:). At about 5:30 minutes into the video I think I saw the Yum-Yum man from our Oosterdam cruise in January of 2006. He was one of the many members of the crew who made that one of our most happily remembered cruises.
Have a great time on your Zuiderdam cruise.

Very interesting. I notice they refer to themselves as a 5-Star Premium cruise line. Hmmm.

No problem... I thought it was interesting!
Yes, they say "5 Star Premium Cruise Line" quite a few times.
Given its purpose, I think they do a good job of discussing the need for service oriented people and quite clearly state that those who are not people oriented, might be better off on a freighter.

It was an very good video. I really enjoyed viewing it. It's an officer's recruiting video, and so it provides an interesting point of view. I recognized quite a few crew members: a couple of captain, several deck officers, and several different Hotel Managers and other Hotel Department officers. I think it was seeing the crew that I enjoyed the most about it.
It also provides an interesting contrast between the Line as it exists today and as it was when the various segments of the video was shot. The first half of the video was shot, mostly, before the introduction of the Vistas, with all the old staff uniforms and only S and R ships pictured. Then, suddenly, we see lots of footage from the Vista class ships and staff in the new uniforms.
For some reason, however, it makes the want to CRUISE on HAL, not work for them. :D

If you look real close, in the beginning after the two-stripe deck officer who puts his hand to his chin, there's actually a quick shot of an "N" class ship, the Noordam III in Alaska

What a wonderful video. It makes me even more certain that Holland America is my cruise line of choice.

Thanks for the link! The video was not only informative but you are all right -- it makes me want to not just cruise (as I have only been home from a cruise for 7 days now) -- but to cruise HAL!
