I was told by the HAL reservations person that if one of us has cruised Cunard, Carnival, Princess, etc in the past and even if we haven't been on HAL, we're entitled to a discount.
Does anyone know what that might be? I didn't think of asking at the time.

I would ask the reservation person to be more specific as to what you may receive as previous guests of a related line. Not sure if the discount is the identical/same as that for a HAL Mariner.

It's called "VIP," for Vacation Interchange Privileges. On the World's Leading Cruise Line site, it basically says that if you have sailed on one Carnival Corp's ships before you are entitled to certain past guest savings offered by any of the member lines. For more information:

Thank you. They tell you to call an agent, of course. :D

Essentially, yes, it is. Sometimes there's no HAL Mariner price break, and other times you can get a better discount with a TA.
And this all shouldn't be confused with HAL Mariner status for the repeaters' party. That's reserved for those who have sailed HAL previously---not the affiliated lines.

That's exactly what I was told by my TA. We get the discount but no other past guest bennies.
