We'll be on the Westerdam and most likely the Zuiderdam next year and I keep reading little blurbs about the Explorations cafe.

What do you do there? HAL's website doesn't seem to offer much except listen to music and snacks.

What do you like to do and what else do they have there?

Thanks :)

It's not a boring place at all. There's where you'll find the internet center. They also have a nice library, with many books you can read. Also newspapers and magazines. A comfortable row of loungers provides listening stations with headsets where you can listed to a variety of music.

Also in Explorations Cafe are crosswords and other puzzles to play solitaire or with fellow passengers. So do plan to drop by and browse a while.

The Explorations Cafe (http://www.hollandamerica.com/signatureofexcellence/explorationscafe.do) has a great library for a ship at sea, something like 3,000 titles of books from which to choose, including recent best-sellers, travel, history, science, foreign language, fiction, etc. You can check out DVDs and games at the Explorations Cafe (EC), buy a fancy coffee/tea beverage, do puzzles, use the computer center, or just hang out in one of the big comfy leather chairs and look out to sea. The EC also has music listening stations. It's just a very pleasant, elegant, social yet peaceful gathering place.

Well, I see that Jim has beat me to it. I guess we're not so boring around here after all;) .

On all the ships we have been on, the Expkorations Cafe is a very busy place. On our recent Maasdam cruises, all the computers were all busy and many people were using their own laptops.

The Westerdam just came out of dry dick a couple of months ago and the Explorations Cafe now is in the Crow's Nest.

I actually spit my coke out at my computer with this one! Doesn't seem to be any damage! http://www.smileyhut.com/laughing/roll2.gif (http://www.smileyhut.com)

Explorations Cafe is my favourite space. Particularly the music system where you can set up your own playlist for the duration of the cruise.
