Does anyone know if there is a beverage store/wine or liquor store on the way from the airport to the pier in Ft. Lauderdale? I would rather not lug my wine and pepsi etc. on the plane. Would it be convenient for the cab driver to stop on the way to the pier?

Thanks for your help! :)

Are you flying in early? There are a few, (depending where you are staying) liquor stores... if you are going to the ship directly from FLL, not sure I can help - though someone out there should be able to...

Can you give us a bit more detail?

we are staying overnight in FLL, so we are hoping to find a store to get sodas and a few bottle waters at.

We are staying in the Westin in town, not at the coast, Hal choice this time :)

There really isn't any shopping out by the Westin. You might want to take a taxi from the Westin to the ship and ask the driver to stop at Publix on 17th Street Causeway. Or you could cancel the hotel with Holland America and book Embassy Suites or Amerisuites. Both these hotels will pick you up at the airport and take you to the ship on cruise day. And they are within walking distance of a Publix Supermarket and a liquor store.

The Westin is great. Very comfortable. But it is not close to any shopping.

There are a few shops in the Ft. Lauderdale Airport where you can buy bottled water and soft drinks. I don't think there is a wine store, however.

We have had the cab stop here and it is close to the port.

The Publix on 17th Street Causeway is very convenient. It is more probably your taxi drivre would have no complaint stopping there on the way to Port Everglades. It is easy to go from airport to dock and stop at Publix. (Remember that if it is a Sunday, no liquor sales until after 12 noon).

There would be no complaint about stopping at Crown Liquor because it is right off 17th.

The original question asked about beverages/wine/liquor stores. Publix sells soda and wine, but does not sell liquor, so you would have to include another stop for that.

Thanks for the tips!

We are going directly from the airport to the pier to catch the Zuiderman. Our plane gets in at 12:15 pm. I just wondered if there was a store on the way to the pier and we could stop and pick up wine and pepsi and maybe Rum, then put it in the check-in luggage rather than carry it on the plane. It sure would be easier!

Thanks!

CR, you do know that while you can bring wine and soda onto the ship, any alcohol found in your carry-on will be confiscated and held until the last night of the cruise, don't you?
