View Full Version : Down or Foam?

I always travel with my own pillow because it is squishy goose down and I can actually sleep instead of waking up my husband to tell him I can't sleep because of the awful pillow. Are the Zuiderdam SS pillows down/feather or regular foam? It would be nice to know there is a squishy pillow awaiting my arrival and not carry my own to Florida.

If I remember correctly the pillows are foam filled. Rather thin for my taste. Had to sleep with two for comfort.

Depends on category cabin you have booked. I believe all the Suites now have down filled pillows. Am not sure if the other cabins will also get them once the SOE is completed.
If you are not in a Suite (S), then just to be on the safe side, I would bring my own.

Not an S, just an SS. I'll pack my own.:) Thanks for the replies.

:)
On the Maasdam in May, our "S" cabin had the new mattresses, duvets, and foam pillows.

Ask and ye shall receive. If you ask your steward for down, he will bring it to you.

I would phone HAL ship services or e-mail Karen Merriam at KMerriam2@HollandAmerica.com Tel: 1-800-541-1576 ext. 8728.
Let Karen know what you NEED and let her take over.
Hope this is of some help.:)

Who is Karen Merriam? Is she in Ship's Services?

Karen Merriam is in Ship Services (Accounting Agent). She is one person who will get your problems taken care. She knows who to get for just about everything.:) She is wonderful and always comes through for us.

Thank you.
Happy to hear she does such a good job for you. :) She'll probably be flooded with calls and e-mails now that her name and addy and telephone have been posted . :) But it sounds like she won't mind as hopefully she is the type that really wants to "get it done" for folks who need assistance.

Maybe HAL will pick up Cunard's exclusive 'pillow concierge' service.
On both Queens, and the Caronia, any cabin type is entitled to this
extra nicety. If you have allergies to goose down...no problem, you'll get a
pillow that's hypo-allergenic.
And who said posh service was extinct? :-)
