Christmas Do For Brisbane CCers

Inspired by Jarrod's lovely idea of a Sydney Christmas meet up, I thought it would be lovely for the Brisbane CCers to have a meet up too :) Of course this includes those from the Gold & Sunshine Coasts and all others who just happen to be in town on the day ;)

I'm happy to do lunch or dinner, whichever is more suitable for everyone. I'm also thinking that to have a great 'theme' to it, we should arrange it for a ship day at Portside.

There are several cafes and restaurants at Portside to choose from so we're not spoiled for choice :)

I'm thinking late November, early December? If we take a poll for the most suitable date, that way we can guarantee the best attendance :D If we do combine it with a 'sailaway' I guess it would have to be a lunch date.

I've looked at the wharf schedule and the ships that are scheduled to sail on weekends in Nov/Dec are:

Pacific Princess - Sat,17 Nov
Pacific Sun - Sat,24 Nov
Pacific Sun - Sat, 8 Dec

All I can find on P&O / Princess is Sun Princess Cruise S735 in Brisbane on 9 November (Friday) in at 8am out at 6pm.

Princess.com has Pacific Princess in French Polynesia on the same day. Maybe Neil meant Pacific Sun for her move to Brisbane?


Pacific Princess will next be in Qld waters on her world cruise in mid Feb '08, but she is by-passing Brisbane for Yorkeys

Don't bother with the Cruise Schedule on the Portside Wharf website it's wrong. No changes to ships etc have been updated into it.

Any of those dates for a Christmas get together is fine with us.

I was thinking we should set ourselves up in the park across the road from Portside. There's covered bbq areas and a kid's playground there. We can also pop over to Portside to watch the ship sailaway while we're there. I thought this would be a good idea so people can just bring along their own picnic things and cook their own steaks etc, and saves us trying to organise a restaurant / cafe. We could even set up a game of cricket or footy too. A nice fun, cheap day out for all :D

The ships usually take off at 2pm, so how's about a 12pm start? That should give everyone plenty of time in the morning to do their usual Sat morning stuff and then turn up for a 'cruisey' afternoon :D

The only problem we'll face is getting a free bbq & table ;) I'm happy to turn up earlier and fight for one though ;)

I'll grab some P&O coloured balloons too, so you all know which table to come to. Look for the blue, white & yellow :D

I dont think they would be too pleased if I ditched them as it has taken abit of planning so everyone can be there.

I just checked the Suns itenerary and she wont be at Portside on the 15th.
She leaves Brissie on the 8th for a 10 nighter cruise, returning on the 18th, which is a Tuesday. Then she goes for 9 nights.

How about we make it Saturday 17th November?

It's also the first time the Sun sails away as OUR ship so it's probably a really good suggestion:D

OK guys, been chatting with Chez, and we've worked out that by the time we get her out of the airport and checked in at Portside it will be about 10:30 ish. So how about we grab a table or 2 and decorate them and everyone else start rocking up around 11am??

Bring the kids & friends, your picnic sets, whatever you want to eat and drink, and we'll settle in for a good old gossip and bbq then wander over to see Chez sail off on the Sun at around 1:30 for a 2pm sailaway.

How's that sound to everyone?

I'm happy to make some funky little CC name tags for everyone too - just let me know who's coming and i'll print some up!

Ahhh schoolies. The perfect time of year to stay the hell away from Surfers Paradise!!!! Unless of course you like getting your car egged and having abuse hurled at you from the little visitors.

My DH used to live on the GC and we always found it amazing how much cr*p the little visitors would hurl at the locals, calling them 'toolies' etc. Um hello they LIVE there and have every right to be there too!!

Unusual but not unknown. When Portside first opened, Pacific Star often came in starboard side to Portside.

Today was great!!!! It was so wonderful to see everyone and get to put faces to the people that you see on CC.

Sorry Jarrod, but there was no volleyball. I am sure photos are not far away.

It was good to see the Sun off as well (even though she was about 4 hours later than her normal departure time). Shame she couldnt grace us with her horn. We all waved off Chaz and Andy. That was cool to actually know someone who was on the ship.

Well better go and eat some dinner.........guess what Minx........Ian cooked!!! I have to tell you so i have it in writing. LOL :D Doesnt happen very often.

Right click on the desktop, click "properties" then go to "settings". It will be in a box titled "screen resolution" and should be something like 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 etc etc.

Your screen setting is 1024 pixels horizontally, and 768 pixels vertical (at that setting, you have 786,000 individual pixels on your screen.

Just use the centre option or whatever it is so it doesnt stretch it to fit on the long sides. That one is long wide enough to fit the screen edge to edge though

Great shots Neil & Sam,

Chez is looking so much more relaxed than the PD tour a week or so ago. Definately in holiday mode.
Have seen wonderful photos of PD, PSu, SP over the last two weeks. More so, it is wonderful to see pics of our great little cruise community having a great time! :)

It was a great day if not a little long. Was so great to catch up with everyone and also to meet some of the CCers we hadn't met before :D Thanks so much to everyone for coming :D

The only disappointment of the day was that the captain of the Sun didn't blow the horn as they departed :( No fair!!!

Chez and Andy got their wish of being last on board too. Shame they had to wait so long after boarding before they finally got going though. I'm sure they'll have a wonderful time! Looked like Chez was busy making friends while they were waiting to leave LOL. Andy just looked happy to have a drink in his hand hehe!

Will get the photos on soon for you all to see :D (Need to get some new batteries first though ;))

Well, I spent my last birthday on Pacific Star and I'll be spending my next birthday on Pacific Dawn.. How lucky am I ???

I really pushed hard for last year, so that I could have it on the Diamond.;) Instead I spent it in Anaheim still recovering from the flight and my beloved Sawnnies losing the GF on my Birthday.:rolleyes:
Though dinner was very nice @ Claim Jumpers.:)
