Hey there ... we just booked the red cabana at HMC with some friends, and I'm excited to see what this is gonna look like. Anyone have any pictures they can share with me? And thanks for all the tips you've shared on other threads about the cabanas and the butler package. It's not until March, but I'm really excited about this day! :D Thanks.

Here's a photo of the red cabana (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31227&d=1162237741)on Half Moon Cay, courtesy of CC member Debjo. Congrats on snagging a cabana:) . We had the yellow cabana, and loved it! Have a lovely day on Half Moon Cay!

Oh, now THAT looks NICE! Thank you very much. After I posted, I did find the Private Islands room and have been reading up on these. Can't WAIT!

Here's the green cabana, last week in December 2006 by those "aboard" in this picture!

(how does one post a picture within the reply? Mine always come in thumbnails, but the other method seems to just involve URLs??)

After several calls to HAL to find out where each of the cabins are located. I never did get a complete answer. So I booked the Taupe Cabana. It is suppose to be in the group between the Water Sports Center and the “I Wish I Could Stay Here Forever” Bar. Does anyone know where it is?
My family is going to be so surprised. It will be our 3rd time on Half Moon Cay and our first time to have a cabana.

Aunty Pat, the tan/taupe cabana is the first cabana in line, nearest the bar. It has a stone/paved walkway that leads directly into the cabana, which I believe is for handicapped access. My friends and I had the blue cabana our last trip to HMC, which is right next door. Several times early in the day,we saw people wandering down the path and into the cabana. The quick thinking occupants laid a lounger on it's side at the opening to the path to solve that problem, which you may want to do as soon as you get settled in. The link that middle-aged mom provided has excellent pics and info as well.
Enjoy! And remember, there's no such thing as a bad cabana :)

I'm just glad they took the time to take all those wonderful pictures. It really helped us when we were trying to figure out which cabana to choose. And I don't know about you, but we take tons of pics now that they are digital. It's so easy. We took a lot less when had to lug around film. :)

I must have taken 60 or more pictures at HMC with my digital and then 24 on a disposable waterproof camera. It doesn't take any time at all to snap pics as you're walking the path to the cabanas, or walking down the beach...in fact, I plan on enjoying myself even more than the first time AND taking even more pics! :)

I"m looking at booking a cabana at HMC for my upcoming cruise and I've been doing a lot of research on cabana locations by reading posts and viewing pictures people have taken during their visits there.
My question is this....people have used taupe, eggshell, tan, grey, etc. to refer to several different cabanas (for instance in this thread cabana #1 is called "taupe" but in pictures I've seen it's labeled "grey").
Are there "official" colors or just ones that we've assigned to them based on how they look?

There are "official" colour names given to the cabanas by HAL and they're listed here:
http://www.hollandamerica.com/dest/port.do?portCode=HMC&dest=C
There are only 12 listed in that part of HAL's website. I just logged in to my shore excursions and there are 15 listed to choose from. The three omitted are blue, green and pink. Also, the map of HMC provided HAL's website isn't quite up to date either, only showing 10 cabanas.

No wonder I was frustrated by trying to find an official/complete/acurate listing!

Am I reading correctly that it's $498 per couple to sit on a beach and eat chips and fruit?
These cabanas seem awfully popular, so please tell me what I'm missing here.

It's $249 for the use of the cabana. You can have anywhere from one to four people use it for the same price. If you want more than four people then you pay a per person surcharge above and beyond the $249.

For $270 more, you get the butler upgrade package. Again, this is for up to four people. So four people get the cabana, the butler, and all the amenities, for $519 for the day.
$249 Cabana package amenities include fresh fruit, chips/salsa, veggies with dip, soft drinks, bottled water, mats, towels, and snorkel gear if you want it. The cabana comes with loungers, a table, chairs, a shower, air conditioner, and a refrigerator.
The Butler Cabana package ($249 cabana plus $270 butler package, total $519 for up to four people) includes all of the above plus a four-course lunch prepared by the Pinnacle Grill, all beverages including liquor and wine/champagne, and the services of a butler plus one of the dining room stewards. The services of a butler in our case included a young man who built sandcastles and entertained our 8-year-old daughter. They had a great time together!:)

If you go to WEBSHOTS and search, HMC, or cabana's or HAL you will find many photos.
