We've just booked aft balcony 5184 for our January cruise on the Noordam. How large are the balconies in the aft cabins? Are they much larger than the regular balcony cabins? We found the VC balconies to be pretty small on the Westerdam.

Have never been in one before, but we booked 5186 for February. I do believe these verandas are larger than the regular ones.

Was in 4176 aft last season and have booked same cabin for a repeat..:D

Veranda was approx. 10 x 10 with half of it covered by veranda above.. It is a great spot to take in sail-aways..

Just returned from a week in 5185 aboard the Noordam...loved it!!! It was our frist cruise and we were very impressed with the stateroom. The verandah was approx 10 x 10 with a comfortable wicker chair and ottoman and a smaller chair and table. I don't think you'll be disappointed!! Enjoy!!!

Thanks!

Thanks for the prompt replys. Does anyone know if there is room for a chaise on these balconies, or are those reserved for the suites?

Was there both sun and shade on the verandah? Sounds like the same furniture as was on my VB verandah last year. Can't wait.:)

Saved this information after booking an aft balcony on the Noordam in March for January 2008.
Go to : YouTube.com and ENTER "Noordam Mars 2007 Marc et Nicole" on the SEARCH. Found the video via a link on Cruise Critic time ago but no longer have the URL. Enjoy!

Apparently you liked the Noordam? How was the food and was there a good mix of age groups ? I have this fear that it will be a very somber sailing, like being in a library at sea. I really don't want a Carnival experience but I would like some fun activities. Thanks, Worried about my booked cruise.

I don't know how old you are, but we found the Noordam to have a mixed age group. Certainly not a somber cruise. I am a senior, but anything but somber, although I don't frequent the Crow's Nest until the wee hours. If that's what you are looking for, you probably did pick the wrong ship. The food was great last year and so was the company. That's why we booked again this winter. Have you checked pout your roll call to get a feel for some of the people from CC going on yhour cruise? I would suggest you do that and see if you have a good fit. Of course, the CC members are a small amount of the passengers that will be on board.

The Noordam is an elegant ship and I hope you have a great cruise.

It is more of a laid back cruise experience.. But this is what we are looking for.. There was a mix in ages with majority being above 50..We meet up with some pax in our age group and made our own parties/good times:) .. You will not find a bunch of loud/rude pax.. It was very easy to sit down at a bar and strike up a interesting conversation.. As far as food goes I never went hungry, there was always something good to be had.. IMO the best crews/service of the lines I have sailed..

I hear ya!! We just booked this cruise for T-day. We are in our late 30's, but didnt want the party scene like Carnival. I have been on RCL and that was a good mix. But I have heard that HAL is trying to gear some of its advertising and activites to attract a little younger crowd. Lets hope so!:p
