Wondering how many years Maasdam has been sailing out of Norfolk

I'm not sure, but I believe this past fall was the first year. If not, it was only 1 year prior. As a whole, Norfolk has just recently begun to pick up some notice from the cruise lines.

Last year was the first year. I have read elsewhere that they signed a 2 year contract to see how demand was from here, and they are advertising 2005 cruises from here. Norfolk has committed to building a "real" port facility for cruise ships which will be ready in 2007 (or if they follow the usual pace for highway construction, sometime before the sun burns out). There are now 4 lines that sail from here, so competition is good.

I hear ya Jean.. You can take the Delta or American Queen out of Cincinnati. Sail down the Ohio and down the Mississippi. Board a cruiseship in New Orleans and cruise the western carribean. Head back up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to home. It's doable.. just a bit pricey. :D
