We have just made reservations on this Hawaii cruise. Can anyone suggest a hotel close to the cruise ship dock in San Diego where we could spend the night prior to the cruise?

For those who have been on this cruise, how was the trip across the Pacific from San Diego to Hawaii?

The Holiday Inn on the Bay is right across the street from the cruise terminal. We are booked there for our February Mexican Riviera cruise on the Mercury. Several posters have made positive references to this hotel.

I will second the location of the Holiday Inn. It is very close, probably the closest hotel to the cruise ship teminal. I have not stayed there YET but I will the next time I sail out of San Diego.

We took the Hawaii trip from San Diego to Hawaii and ending in Vancouver this April. The weather will determine how the trip across the Pacific is. Your perception of "sea condition" will also play a major part. One night that I described as "a bit rock & rolly" was terrifying to one of our tablemates who spent the whole night sitting up afraid the ship was going to turn over and sink. If the "Pacific High" hasn't broken down yet you will have a fairly smooth trip, a bit more rock & rolly than a Caribbean cruise but not qualifying for sea sick bags distributed all over the ship. If the winter storm track has established itself early (usually sets up in late November) you may well run into some fairly substantial seas. If you are prone to motion sickness, pack your favorite remedy but the odds should be with you that early in the winter.

I'd do the trip again in a heartbeat.
