Had to cancel cruise today

I guess there is a first time for everything. My DW's mother passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon. DW is doing ok, and she flew on a red-eye last night back east.

We were due to sail on the Maasdam on Saturday, so I called our travel agency this morning and airlines and emailed HAL about the excursions. Everyone has been very gracious and we did have cancellation insurance.

No complaints here; cancelling a cruise is way down the list of life's problems compared to the loss of a loved one--we can always get another cruise, but tough to get another parent. We will be on the Maasdam in spririt even if we cannot be on her in person.

A few years ago, we were in San Juan for a pre night, and rec`d word at midnight that my beloved sister had passed away in the UK. The cruise line and airline were wonderful in getting me back to the US so I could get to England. Cruises will be there when you are ready to take one. May God bless you all.....jean
