Here's hoping someone who has been to Noumea can help me out (21 years since I was there:rolleyes: ).
I would like to know how far away from where the ship docks is it to Anse Vata and is it easy to get to on your own? We are thinking of doing Le Petit Train but would also like to go to Anse Vata.
Thanks in advance coz I know one (or many more) of you lovely people out there will be able to help me.

we got a taxi there. While it didnt seem far i am not sure about walking distance. With 5 of you it may not be the way to go unless you get others to share the second cab. we walked from there around to lemon bay also worth doing. we had problems getting taxis both ends, you have to search for them they dont line up at the pier like you would expect.
we have almost decided just to stay on the ship this time. we also have the dreaded sunday at noumea to contend with. I dont know why they do this!!!

Thanks Karon. If the people cruising with us come too (which they probably will) there'll be 8 of us so that makes the cab ride easier. How long did it take to get there? I think I read somewhere that it's about 10 mins by car. Is this correct?
And, is it worth going to?

Sorry to spoil the Karen/Karon theme, although I can keep up the 'K' theme.
Yes, Anse Vata would be about a 10 minute taxi ride from the wharf or Coconut Square.

Hi Karen
I am sure the exact distance from the passenger terminal to Anse Vata - maybe 6/7 kms. It is easy to access by public transport - all you need to do is to catch either a 'green' or 'orange' line bus from near "Coconut Square". It's about a 5 minute walk from the ship.
We were in Noumea in February and the fare was approx XPF150 per person one way and you purchase tickets directly from the driver. You must have local currency. The services operate roughly every 10 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.
As the 2 lines take different routes it's a good idea to go one way 'orange' and one 'green'.
If you need help there is an information desk inside the passenger terminal.
Enjoy the beach!

p.s. We have also done 'Le Pettit Train' excursion, it was good fun.

Actually - you pretty much answered Karen's (or the other Karen's or Karon's) question anyway, rather than mine.

I was a little confused when I read this post Roy....but then I read your next one:) . Thanks so much for your reply, it has helped me heaps coz I probably wouldn't have thought to go one colour & come back the other.
Also, can someone give me an idea of how many XPF I should take? I want to get them before we go. We are a family of 5, probably won't do any shopping as it is too expensive, just want money for fares, ice creams maybe??? Any ideas?

You need to go there on the green line. You get on near the Atelier des femmes located on Anatole France Street. (About 4 streets up from the terminal)The buses run from 4.45am until 7pm. One way ticket 150xpf or day pass 650xpf.
Ice creams were about 200 to 300xpf each.
To be safe, if you were going by bus, I would say about 3000xpf each ($25 give or take), By taxi, double it. Taxis are metered and cost in average, 3500xpf/hour. Depends on whether or not you find something you want to buy too.
Are you going to any of the other 'French" islands? ..don't forget that they need francs too.
You can always withdraw money from the hole in the wall outside the terminal from your credit or savings account. I found we could only withdraw from that one...we tried 3 others in town.
I have the little pocket guide that I picked up there...email me if you want with your address and I can copy and post it to you.

How are you feeling Kaz? Hope you have dumped your flu.
Still working on your timelapse video
