There seems to be many who are hearing that the Journey will return to traditional dining. Just completed the 9/29 cruise and we asked Dominique Nicole the F&B Mgr. asked about this rumor. He told us there are no plans to return to traditional dining and Azamara is committed to making opened seating successful.

Hi Grandsix !
Thank you for the update. I am not surprised to hear this at all. I saw the comment that mentioned Azamara might change to assigned seating. At the time, I said that was highly unlikely, and was just a rumor. I am happy to hear we can put that thought to rest.

If they did change from open seating I would cancel my cruise. If you like assigned dining there are plenty of other cruise ships where you can have it. If you don't like open dining don't book Azamara and try to get them to change to suit you.

Open seating is one of the reasons we booked The Journey. I hope it remains "open" for our upcoming cruise. :)

We too have just returned from the 9/29 sailing and must admit I had reservations about the open seating after seeing some posts. We like to be able to say hi to our waiter and have enjoyed the traditional seating.
But we were rookies to this open seating and did not understand 2 things about it.
1- You can still sit a a larger table and enjoy dinner with other cruisers, or just enjoy dinner with your group (4 of us this time)
2- On the smaller ship with a crew that has an outstanding attitude each meal is enjoyable (although we did steer towards Walter & Mauricio for several meals)
The much talked about wait times did not exist when we went to eat (between 6 & 7 most nights)
So I was pleased to hear there were no plans to change things when it was brought up at our get together.
