Since we are leaving for Alaska in fifteen hours, I realize that I might not get an answer in time- but I'll give it a try anyway!

How do the laundry facilities work on the Statendam? I thought I had read that there was a self serve laundry area. Does that mean coin operated machines? (I'm not planning on having to do laundry, but just in case...)

How about the ironing facilities? Are there enough irons available, or is there a mad rush an hour before formal night? We will definitley need to iron our clothes for dinner- I'm just trying to figure out when the best time would be!

I'd appreciate any and all advice about either question!

Yes, there are self-service laundry rooms. $2.00 for wash and $1.00 for the dryer. If you don't have enough quarters for the machines you can get them from the Front Office. Soap is provided. Just don't use too much as they use soft water. There are instructions to tell you what to do.

I can't remember if there are 1 or 2 ironing boards and irons in each laundry room as I never use them. Everything goes out. I never worry about wrinkles - I'm on holiday. ;) :)

There are a number of laundry rooms on the ship, so I doubt there would be a mad rush to use the irons before dinner on a formal night.

Enjoy Alaska and have a wonderful. It's such beautiful country.
