In Limon, Costa Rica I did a half day private excursion with Oscar Brown, while my wife did a ship bought zip-line tour. (I think Oscar Brown also does ziplines).

If you walk up the pier in Limon and across the huge port truck park you will find a local outdoor market with all kinds of great handcrafts. The market is established for the cruise ships so you don't have to go into town...my wife also got Costa Rican coffee for $4.00 US a pound in the market!!!

Because our Princess cruise went through the first set of Panama Canal Locks to Gaton Lake...tendered off pax to do excursions...and the ship went back through the locks to Colon, we just stayed on board. But, friends who took the ferry boat through the canal to the Pacific side and then took the bus back to the waiting ship in Colon raved about this excursion.

Make sure you leave enough time to visit the market on the pier in Colon. The back of the market...away from the air conditioned diamond stores etc. is a wealth of local artisans and crafts. The Embera Indian basket weaving and jewlry is incredible and at a great price....the wood carving and silk screening by Panamanian artisans is also well worth the price.

Panama is the best cruise destinatiuon we have been on so far.

Have a great cruise.

The best place to ask this is on the port of call boards. You may even find that a host will move this.

I went all the way thru the locks so, can't give you an answer:confused:
