based upon the thread of "dress code clarification", how many of you would:
like to continue beating that dead horse?
would like to see that poor dead horse rest in peace?

It all depends. Will the horse be laid out in its owners racing silks? Main viewing room, or casual room? Will this be a "Before 6" or an "After 6" affair? If there is a reception, do we follow the same dress code as the deceased horse?
If we do beat the horse, will it be 4/4 jazz tempo, 3/4 waltz or 6/8? 5/8 modern jazz? How about 8-to-the-bar boogie woogie? Do we do the beating ourselves, or will the house drummer do it and, if so, is the gratuity added to our bill or should we handle that ourselves?
At the reception, will they serve road apples?

I think we should just keep maintaining each poster's side of the discussion ad nauseum.......no one is going to change anyone's mind about their position. But for those who wish to keep trying......let 'em have at it!!! :p
As always.....easy to cruise on by something you don't want to read.
We have some new CC'ers who have not had the (dubious) pleasure of partaking in one of these infamous conversations.

Do we have the option of sending the dead horse to the knackers and getting a new one to beat??? ;) We usually do that, you know ... these topics take their turn.
Next subject for "dead horse" classification, step right up!!!!!! :D
I thought this was supposed to be a poll?

My thoughts about the dress code is as follows:  At our age we should be mature enough to OBEY the rules for that evenings dress code set out by HAL.
If the evening is formal and you DO NOT WISH that formal evening, HAL has the Lido for YOUR use.:o Alternative dining is another option for we who enjoy dress up.:p I like to think of my cruise time, as a magical moment that has been given to me.:) ENJOY!:D

Let's see ... I can copy Morse Code at 20 words per minute. Have not read the Da Vinci Code (and not about to). Code of Ethics is something that I haven't decoded yet. I don't get Head Codes or Flu, luckily. The Dress Code does not apply to me, as I do not wear a dress, or any other article of women's clothing (not even in the privacy of my house).

If we're ever on a cruise together, I'll get you a drink!!!!! :)
In my opinion, the best scene from "Victor Victoria" is in that restaurant and the exchange between Robert Preston's character ("Toddy") and the waiter. :)
Toddy: "It's a wise man who knows when to throw in the towel."
Waiter: "And it is a moron who gives advice to a horses ass."
That cracks me up EVERY time!

What is the suggestion regarding personal hygiene in the main dining room? I'm not real big on personal hygiene. I'm more of a free spirit. I believe I should be able to smell as I please - which is kinda like a dead horse. :)

I thought the same thing as Doone. This is not a poll in the sense that you cannot see the results, like the other polls on the board. There was no place to vote. Who feels like counting each opinion? Most of the posts don't answer the questions anyway, just the usual comments.

BTW, what was the topic?

n.b., when we get a dead horse or donkey or cow around here, we just call a friend with a backhoe and he scoops it ups and digs a big hole somewhere where nobody can see him, and he buries the sucker. Ashes to ashes, etc.

Remember the Bats!:D
Hey Chief,
Would those be sea bats? What time do we pass the mail buoy?
To at least try to answer the original question (remember that? ;) ), the basic answer is, I'm a guy. I don't really care, just tell me what I'm supposed to wear, when (what's the uniform of the day?).
Whatever the dress code is, guys don't really care what it is, they just want to be right. When a woman sees another one wearing the same dress, they seem upset. When guys see another guy wearing the same thing, our thought process is "Hey, O.K! Got it right, I'm wearing what the other guys are!"
Bottom line -- I really don't mind wearing a tux or sport coat or whatever. Just please tell me upfront what you expect, so I know what to pack.
For non-USN types, senior enlisted people (chief petty officers) are known as "goats" and where they berth on Navy ships is called the "goat locker." A mustang is someone who was an enlisted person and then became an officer. Not all of them were chiefs before they became officers. I was. Chief 1982, permanent Senior Chief/temporary Ensign 1986, permanent Master Chief/temporary LT junior grade 1988; permanent officer(LT) 1990.
"You can take the goat out of the locker, but you can't the goat out of the goat."
Dave, the Retired Mustang
