We will be on the Regatta later this month, and are considering taking another cruise on the Insignia next year. Are there any advantages to booking next year's cruise while on board, and having our reservations forwarded on to our local travel agent to handle, or should be book directly with our local travel agent? Thanks for any advice you might be able to offer.

We were on the Regatta in June and booked a cruise on board for next May. You get a 5% discount by booking onboard and your booking is forwarded to your travel agent. In my opinion it's worth it to book a cruise on board. You put down $1,000 deposit which is completely refundable up until final payment time.

Of course the cruise line has use of your money interest free for all those months. Doesn't seem like a wise use of money unless you absolutely think a particular cruise will be sold out all those months before sailing.

It seems the discount savings is far more than any interest you could make on $1000 in a year or less. I think the booking on board to save 5% is a good choice, we did this on our cruise last Sept. and it saved us $600.

The math is simple......do it.....you only lose if you cancel, and, frankly, that's not a biggie!

I booked some time ago and recently found the price went down in all categories. Our cost went down $1000 each. I would not have saved anything more by booking a year ago. (My fare would make about $240 in a year.)

Just curious, which itineraries went down $1000 recently? Thank you.

Which fares are you talking about. Please be more specific. You do not have to pay in full till 75 days before cruise. How would you make $240 on the deposit?? This doesn't make sense to me????
