Please tell us about being on a HAL ship in the evening in Curacao! Our ship will depart at Midnight.

In Curacao are there ALWAYS fireworks for HAL ships in port/departing at night?

Happy Sailing! OCruisers :)

I have been to Curacao 3 times, always with a late departure. We saw fireworks on all 3 cruises. :)

Do they always? Things change ,but it has always been a tradition, so I think you have a 99.99% chance of seeing them.

Enjoy them :)

I saw the fireworks last March, it was very nice. Hope you see them and enjoy them as well.

:) Fireworks

We have not always had fireworks when we left Curacao at night. One time when we were at the International Pier, the fire works began after we were about 5 miles out to sea. You could hardly see them.

Mostly the fireworks are when the ship leaves at 10 PM.

Midnight - that could be a different thing - very late at night.

Thanks EVERYONE!

This will be our first time AT NIGHT in Curacao on a HAL ship so we need help in planning our EVENING. Any other suggestions?

We'll keep our "fingers crossed" for the Fireworks! :p

Every time we have left Curacao on an HAL ship after dark, they have had fireworks and it is great!!! They are so pretty and it's nice to see the locals line the harbor to wave us off.

They will have a sailaway party at aft pool for everyone to view the fireworks.

That is usually the night of the BBQ.

The fireworks were gorgeous, and I was surprized at how long they lasted.

If it is the night of the Bar-B-Q, does that mean it will be "Dutch Night"?

Thanks again EVERYONE! On other trips to Curacao we have gone on snorkeling excursions and then into town for a while.

This time, we are planning to go to the beach (either KonTiki Beach Resort or Seaquarium Beach  Any help on which would also be appreciated! Finding good info on the Curacao Ports of Call Board but still can't decide. ) Then, we hope to go back to the ship for our Late Seating Dinner ... and, hopefully, watch fireworks from the ship later in the evening.... Does this sound like a good plan?

HAL pays for the fireworks that are set off whn their ships leave that port.

Would suggest that after the BBQ you move out to the stern of the ship and get a comfortable seat by the railing with a cold drink and enjoy the fireworks as you sail away.

Try swimming with the dolphins there at the Dolphin Academy. It is fantastic. You are in a seperate lagoon, not a pool. Have doe it and enjoyed it. It must be set up before hand with the academy.

Enjoy the trip.

I have been to Curacao three times and we had fire works each time we left there. I have always left there at 11:00 PM or Midnight. I was there in 1997, 2001 and last November. I have heard if your ship leaves at say 8 or 9 PM, you will not have the fireworks. I have heard this but I do not know this.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Sorry I can't help with the beaches

IF they are still doing Dutch Night, it will probably be when you are in Curacao since it is a Dutch Island and all 3 time I was there it was Dutch Night.
