Does anyone know if there is a place to purchase bottles of wine near the terminal?

we stay at the Embassy Suites on the 17th st causeway--it's a short distance from the port. There's a Publix supermarket with a decent wine selection next door, and also a liquor store across the street from the hotel that has a good selection.

In a shopping center on 17th street (where several convenient hotels are located) on the right hand sude of the street facing east there is a Total Wine store. Also others in other shopping centers in the area. I recommend Total Wine. Check them out at www.totalwine.com.

The Total Wine Store is in the same shopping Center where the Publix is, right behind the Embassy Suites. We walked from the ES to the shopping center in September to make a few purchases, wine, Pepsi, and water:)

The name of the new shopping area next to Embassy Suites that has the Total Wine store and the Publix is "Harbor Shops".

We just went to the Total Wine Store this pass cruise. It's right next to that Publix. I just told the driver "harbor shops" he knew exactly where to go. He waited while one of us ran in to get the wine. Was great. Not far out of the way at all.

Also, you can order & pay for your wine bottles from Total Wine online prior to your cruise and then just pick them up at the nearest location without doing the shopping bit.
Just order them 9 or fewer days before you plan to pick them up & it's easy as that.
Here's the Ft. Lauderdale store link http://www.wineaccess.com/store/totalwine-fortlauderdale/our-catalog.html

We also use Total Wine, wish we had them in Alabama, great prices and selection. I will buy a case online for next months cruise on the Volendam and pick up the case on the way to the ship. I do not check my wine at the port with my luggage instead I have a collapsible cooler on wheels with a handle that I use to take my wine aboard with carry on. This cooler works well for keeping the wine the best temperature in the cabin as our cabin will not have a refrigerator. Here is a picture of the cooler we bought it a couple of years ago at Costco for $30
