OK, so we're batting around ideas here this morning. Looking at some of the 50-65 day Grand Voyages for sometime in 2009. The more we talk, the more excited I get - though DH isn't totally convinced. As I'm popping off our choices for cruising, he realizes he needs to get to an appointment. He says he hates to leave me alone right now and tells me to "Call a recovering Cruiser".

Please tell me there's no such group!:)

From http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/50551/12_step_cruise_addiction_cure_a_scam.html ...
"No, my dear fellow addicts, there is no magical 12-step program to 'END' your addiction. It's existence is a scam!! I can only offer, as a balm, this prayer from the "Book of Cruising", the 'Siren's Song', Chapter 5, Verses 1-11."

"The Lord is my captain, I do not get seasick! He leadeth me from one Carlos & Charlies, to the next. Hard Rock Cafes will always sell me trinkets. He saileth me upon still waters one minute then bounces me out of bed onto my butt the next. He filleth my head with visions of mermaids and giveth the weather report from the bridge. Wave swells and temperature readings comfort me. Verily, the barometer, humidity and blow force readings will follow us all the days of our trip. Yea!"

"Though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of travel brochures I will fear no travel agent's land based sales pitch. For there is a cruise ship somewhere, going someplace, someday SOON. Surely, deals and discounts will be mine for the picking for the Lord is my captain; I do not get seasick! Amen."

Ah Ha - there IS a group! Sounds though like there's just one step.

Recognize there is a problem, and indulge.

Just my kind of program!

I think you just identified the key obstacle with any "cure" ... the first step to recover from anything is admitting that you have a problem. I'm a newb when it comes to cruising; but from those I've talked to who do cruise often, they pretty much all believe that the ones with the problem are those who don't cruise!

Indeed!
And, of course, the second problem is that the only cure for Crusiaholism is ... you guessed it, another cruise!

I don't have a problem. I know there are people who do, but it isn't me! I can stop cruising and can even stop visiting Cruise Critic anytime I choose! So go "help" someone who really needs it, for crying out loud! :D

You people are really nuts. Cruisaholics? There is no such thing!! I Googled it! There is no such thing! Oh, by the way, two days ago I booked on the Eurodam for a cruise a little over a year away, to be exact, 393 days. That is really not a long time to wait. It's not a problem. My wife thinks that one cruise a year is enough. I can find something to do in the meantime. Then I got the HAL brochure featuring the 3 & 4 day Caribbean cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale. There was one in April, 2008. Her birthday is in April. After she went to bed last night, at around 1 AM I went on the computer. I found that we could get a 3 day cruise with a Verandah to the Bahamas for the Mariner price of just $774. We live in Tampa, so we can drive to Ft. Lauderdale in 3 hours. Tonight, after she goes to bed, I'll go back to the computer and get more details. Cruisaholics! Thats ridiculous.

That's a very bad sign, my friend. Do you have a sponsor you can call?

We wouldn't want to go to Cruiseaholics Anonymous. This is one addiction we want to keep.
In fact, we love being called this so much our name when we play any trivia on a HAL ship is "The Cruise-A-Holics"

I don't know which is worse...being addicted to cruising or these boards. I check in here whenever I come home. And now I realized that I joined CC a year ago and this is my 2000TH post. :D

I had a great laugh reading these posts.. I've been accused of being "addicted to cruising" by many, my DH included. Can't think of anything better that I would like to be addicted to.

My name is Pam and I'm a cruisaholic and proud of it!!:D

No - there is no such thing as cruiseaholics anonymous. We are cruiseaholics, but are certainly not anonymous. I think I joined the club when I got the same cabin steward on five different cruises, and really elevated my game when I planned the next twenty years worth of cruises three weeks ago, when I stayed up til four in the morning to accomplish the task.

I don't have a problem.
I swear, its not a problem.
It's only a problem if you recognize its a problem.

...I don't have a problem.
Quit judging me.
