View Full Version : Different Fonts & Colors

I am noticing many posters using different fonts, sizes and colors lately. Some extra large and very bold as well.

A nice new tool, but for me it makes reading a thread difficult to follow when switching between large bold faced type and bright colors to very pale (like yellow). Some I have difficulty reading...

I am not criticizing, not at all - just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

:)

No - these tired, old eyes actually like the larger type.

Some colors are just not suitable on a white background - and bolding certain fonts make then difficult to read. I'm all in favor of dark colors for reading ease.
As for size,

Using a large font and printing 'bold' in a strong color is seldom necessary -it's like using upper case and we all know that's shouting.

What do others feel?- I'd say maybe #4 or #5 and #6 perhaps for extra special emphasis.

The larger type - I like a 3 or 4 - is fine, but it's some of the colours that get me. There was one post done in a horrible shade of green that was very hard to read.

I would like to suggest that the poster preview what they have written before submitting it. This way they would be able to tell what it looks like in actual print.

I don`t like all of this colour changing at all, its very hard on the eyes. We got along fine on the old board, too many options can spoil a good thing!!...jean

Hmmmmm.....I don't know ... I kind of like the different fonts and colors although I have to admit the green shade that Sail7 used today was a bit scarey. It seemed to jump out at me from the page:D Sorry, Sail!!! I can't think of a time I haven't seen eye to eye with you but that green was just not you!!!!;)

This "comic sans MS" is my personal favorite and I use it everywhere ... emails, etc. I agree the subtler shades of blue are easier to read.

Heather,

I like the blue as well. The pink, purple & yellow hurt my eyes. I'm not sure I saw the green - I may not remember it.

I don't mind the size 3 or 4 font either. I used to used Comic all the time too. My personal favorite for the past few years has been Tahoma.

I just had a hard time following some of the posts today and thought I'd see if I was alone.

I chose to write in red when I was responding to a quote so that the quote would stand out from my response. Then I decided I liked the red and continued to use it. Will be glad to change if it bothers the eyes! Let me know! :D :D Dee

I'm sorry, Heather. Thank you for pointing it out to me that color is hard on the eyes. I'll try to not use it in the future.

I like being able to switch around the fonts and colors and to use italic and bold.

How is this green color? Is this okay on tired eyes?

The dark colors are ok for me, especially the blues and greens and the red too. I like the bigger fonts, they are easy to see.

For me, and I'm not sure why - the lighter colors are hardest and make my eyes water. May be time for an eye exam. Either that or I'm spending too much time here!

How is this green color? Is this okay on tired eyes?No need to be sorry!!! I think it's the neon shades that seem to shimmer and bounce off the page. This green is quite nice, Sail:D . Of course some people might just love those bright shades! I can think of some occasions where some of the neon shades might be just the ticket;) !!!

I think this is the color that everyone was refering to that sail7seas did in one of her posts.

Is as bad as when I posted in this color.

We are all learing what colors are best for most people's eyes.

:)The lime green is the worse. It is not very readable and looks like crap.
