Good Morning!
I am new to the HAL boards and to HAL cruising. (I have been on 26 prior cruise, but on other lines). I am calling my TA today to book a cruise on the Zui for March 2005.
My question is: has anyone been in the category "BB" cabins? I was wondering if they overlook the lifeboats and if the view is somewhat diminished? Or is the view from these cabins like any other balcony cabin?

Thanks for your help!

I haven't been on the Zuiderdam yet so I can't help you with your question, but when in March are you sailing? We booked the March 12th sailing.

I assume you're talking about the rooms on the Verandah deck, right above the lifeboats. I posed a similar question in a previous thread and I believe the response was that they didn't obstruct the view. Hopefully someone who's had one of those rooms can help.

You may want to check with your TA into promo 267. Categories B through BB give a 2 category upgrade. If you're concerned that would allow you to pay for a BB and perhaps move to an AA one deck higher.

BTW, I'm also curious which date you're thinking of. We're booked on the 3/26 eastern Caribbean sailing.

The lifeboats on the Vista Ships (Zuiderdam and sisters) do protrude slightly out from the side of the ship. We have cruised four times on Zuiderdam in an "S" (midship) on Rotterdam deck and when we looked directly down to the water, there was a very slight view onto the lifeboats but I would not say it impacted our view in any real way, at all. Before we first boarded Zuiderdam, I thought the lifeboat would wreck the view but it didn't.

I cannot say that whatever BB room you are referring to is exactly the same as you did not give a cabin number and I could not check it on a deck plan.

Thanks for all your replies. However, I just found out I made a slight mistake--the cruise is on the Westerdam, not the Zuiderdam. (I just got the meeting brochure today. It's March 6-13). Sorry for the confusion.
But, I beleive that they are "sister" ships, so are configured the same way. Is that correct? The cabin I have "on-hold" is a category "B" (B5150) on the Verandah deck. I don't think that far back I will have trouble with the life boats obstructing the view, do you?

Thanks again!

Your verandah cabin does not have an obstructed view. The life boats will not be a problem for you.

Just got back from 7/31 Zui in a BB cabin. You will not see the lifeboats on the 5th floor. I was in 4063 obstructed view. The view was very obstructed by the lifeboats but we were able to see the water and the very large windows still let in a lot of light in the daytime which is what we really cared about.

If you are looking for a super view do not get obstructed view cabin but other than that I do not think that our room was much smaller (if any) than my wife's grandparents verandah on the 5th floor.
