We are booked in a cat J #364 on Maasdam this Jan. The ship layout shows a small staircase just across the hall that appears to go to all floors. Does anyone know if these are public or for service personel .

On Statendam Class ships, there is a forward and an aft companionway and set of elevators.
The stairwell you refer to is for crew only. Passengers do not use this staircase.
Because the Statendam sisters are reasonably sized, it is not a very long walk from anywhere to either the forward or the aft stairwell. The ships simply are shorter than many of the huge ones.....even shorter than Zaandam/Volendam/Rotterdam/Amsterdam. Those ships all have a third companionway...located mid-ship.

I don't think this is what you're talking about, but:
The S-class ships have a public spiral staircase that goes between the Lido deck and the Sports deck. It's right at the Dolphin bar. It's beautiful and a lot of fun.

Thanks S7S, not worried about getting around, thought maybe I'd have my own private access to the casino!

the S-Class ships don't have passenger mid-ship stair cases unfortunately. those got introduced on the R-Class ships cause it's the same model, just stretched a hundred some odd feet....
sadly, the stairs you see at midship from one deck to another is a crew only staircase
hope it helps
