Kirsten, that sounds about right. I know the that current Captain of Pacific Dawn is only a 'temp' until the permanent one takes up his post early in 2008...

I have air horns in my Swift :) The standard horn just wasn't loud enough hehe! Maybe I should bring it just incase we don't get a horn when I sail away LOL! :D
Hopefully whoever replaces the current captain on the Sun likes to sound his horn because the current guy leaves us Brisbaneites very disappointed :(

When I went on Pacific Sun the captain sounded the horn many many times!! Very cool and I hope this happens for you Queenslanders (I too would be very disapointed if I didn't get a horn):D

Capt Andrew Froude was the Master of Regal Princess when we came over from LA to Sydney. Capt Amitrano is now temp master of PD, he took it to Singapore for refit, brought it back and is currently its Capt until February 08, when Capt Froude takes over, Froude is currently master of Pacific Sun.
We had dinner a couple of times on RP with Capt Froude (a nice pom) and his Aussie wife, due to one of our female table mates being close friends with Capt.Froude's wife Narelle. So I got to know Capt.Froude quite well, he lives on the Gold Coast.
No I am not big noting, just giving you the info you want.
Cheers..Les:cool:

Our captain blew the horn when we sailed under the Sydney Harbour Bridge at around 6.00am yesterday morning.
What the hell, it is a work day. Time for everyone around the harbour to get up anyway. :D

Whilst on the subject of captains, I must say Fabio didn't impress me at all. He was lousy with his "announcements" and I use that term loosely because they didn't sound like announcements. Sounded more like he was having a converstation with the fella next to him & accidentally turned the mike on. Was hard to tell if he was supposed to be talking to us.
I asked my youngest if he had his photo taken with him at the captains coketail party....the response......he wasn't there:confused: . The kids did a tour of the bridge and guess what....he wasn't there either.

close friends with Capt.Froude's wife Narelle.
With a name like Narelle, I think I would have guessed she could only be Australian.

We had Fabio on the Sun in 2006 and he was pretty ordinary then too. Doesn't have a lot of warmth. On Sky in 2004 we had a Ukrainian guy (can't remember his name) as Maitre'd. He was a really engaging guy who would always come around and check if everything was OK. He also was very proud of P&O/Princess having worked for them for over 20 years and his pride came through in his attitude and in the service levels he demanded of his staff.

Yes, Narelle is an Aussie, she used to be tours officer on Sitmar and P&O, that is where she met her husband, Capt.Andrew Froude. He likes to sound the horn and will be off Pac Sun and Pac Dawn in Feb. Terrific fellow he is too.;)
