Princess Cruises and Barclays have announced the Princess Rewards Visa Signature card, a new co-branded credit card and rewards program that offers passengers the opportunity to earn free cruises, onboard credits, and discounts toward their cruise fares, air travel or special amenities.
No Annual Fee
0% Introductory APR on balance transfers
Up to 10,000 Bonus Princess Points.
Double points on all Princess purchases including onboard purchases
One (1) point for every $1 spent on all other purchases

--------------------------
Sounds like a good idea, wonder if HAL will follow suit? Paying your cruise with that card should give you lots of points.
What do you think?

I doubt it. While it would be nice to earn cruises this way, such cards are limiting by nature. In other words, the value accrues only to one company. That's fine for many people, and is good for the company. But not all that great who are not exclusive cruisers on one line.

Other cards give you more flexibility to use your rewards as most needed at the moment. The Discover card, for instance, gives cash money back, or offers the ability to grow it (even doubling it) when exchanged for a certificate to selected merchants. Other cards let you use your rewards on any airline you want, or any vacation or merchandise you want.

It will be interesting to see how successful this is for Princess.

No thanks. I will stick with my Amex card. The points can be used for many different things.

So, we need a CCL branded card, with points useable in the onboard shops, across all the CCL ships. Works for me.

I don't know if it works on all the corporate lines, but:

"Carnival teamed with a financial services company, Capital One, to basically issue a brand new credit card, the Carnival MasterCard. The cruise line calls its particular credit program the ''Fun Finance Plan,'' a moniker that may strike some of you a tad Pollyanna-like, given that incurring long-term debt doesn't exactly sound like fun. Nevertheless, it could mean a boon to those of you who are strapped for cash but eager to cruise.

The credit card also earns you one reward point for every dollar charged on it, including the initial installment of your cruise purchase. The rewards program offers cruise upgrades and discounts and, when sufficient points accrue, even a free cruise."

The name of the card is Seamiles by Chase. The only bad thing that I have noticed is that you have to go to "DESIGNATED TRAVEL AGENTS". The other minus, is that the points do expire.......Darn. Can not have everything perfect.:D
