I just went to Celebrity’s website and looked for the deck plan for the Quest and it now has a date that you need to choose and guess what date it seems to change? Your choice is Dec. 08 2007 –Mar 29 2008 or April 12 2008 – April 07, 2009. With a statement; Deck plans may vary throughout the year. To ensure the most accurate stateroom location, select the appropriate cruising dates. Does this mean that something is going to change on our cruise, like some kind of construction??  I will call X tomorrow. If anyone can shed some light on this please let me know. We are on the Quest Mar 29, 2008 - April 12, 2008.

Hi Gadgetguru !

This has been on Celebrity's website for quite some time now. The only thing is, I do not know of any changes planned, nor do I see any differences between the 2 maps.

If you hear anything, please let us know.

Andy,

I just got worried since the cut off is the day we sail and the change is the day we get back. Also I was not able to pull up the ship diagram for deck seven and eight. We are on seven aft. I will let you know if I find out anything.

Hi Bob !

The only minor deck change I know of, is the addition of Laundry Rooms on Deck 7, which have recently been installed. That doesnt have anything to do with 2008 though :)

Let's see what Azamara has to say.

I don't think this is anything to worry about. As I recall, the same type of message appeared last year before we cruised on Celebrity. I believe it has to do more with the way cabins are categorized than anything regarding physical layout. I think the date also represents a time when the ship changes its itinerary, which probably entails re-pricing. Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure we've seen this before.

Similar wording has been used in the past by both Princess and HAL when there is a planned reclassification of cabin categories.

You maybe right. After my initial reaction and panic, I did compare the price for the same category that we have and there seems to be quite an increase for the next sailing. I just do not understand how price could change the physical layout of the deck. The cabin numbers should not change or where they are located.

I called the Captains Club, followed the instructions by pressing one to go to Azamara. Talked to Dana, very nice was willing to help. Her explanation was that it was possibly just the way the website was setup, so if you would continue on you might be able to book a cruise and they would need this information as to sailing dates. The only problem with that is you can not book from that page, you need to start over.

I called again, talked to Sonja, also willing to help. Her explanation was that it may have something to do with the handicapped room on one of the upper decks. When they setup the deck layout for the Quest it was off of the Journey information. Which has that handicapped room on the opposite side of the ship. So they must have taken this opportunity to change it on the website. This makes no sense to me, why wouldn’t they just change it? Sonja also suggested that I call our TA that we transferred our reservation to maybe they could help. She also explained that I was talking to Azamara reservations and not the Captains Club. Silly me for thinking that the company that I am sailing with should know about their product, and I should ask a TA. I guess they might know more?

I called a third time, did not press one. Talked to Paula Anne, also very nice. Her explanation was it meant nothing it is just the way they did the website.

One hour and three phone calls later I still don’t know why they picked our cruise to change the deck layout. I did learn that if you call the Captains Club and you follow the instructions to Azamara you leave the Captains Club and you go to reservations.
Now with all that said we will have a wonderful cruise, so if you see me wondering the halls with a confused look on my face you will know that I am just looking for my cabin where it was not knowing where they moved it to:eek: :D .

The last time this happened it was because Balcony Cabins became CC cabins. That didn't require any construction though, just a new name on the website and a new price :D
