While cruising on the Oosterdam 's Poker Cruise 12-1 thru 12-8 we noticed a line of people at the front desk almost everyday. Many of them were drawing cash advances for the Casino(I suppose) I don't think they realize that a cash advance on your credit card is 22.5 % interest, instead of the usual 9.9%, so the morale of the story is..if your going on a cruise and intend to gamble, bring lots of cash. I really don't think a lot of people realize how much cash advances can hurt the old pocketbook. :)

My credit card interest is 7.5% for both purchases and cash advances - and there of course is only interest if I don't pay it off the next cycle.

Interesting.....I checked American express online....they charge 22.5 % annual rate for cash advance.

This wouldn't be a cash advance, though. Whatever you withdraw just goes on your shipboard account as a charge. If it were an ATM, it'd be a cash advance.

Me, I just bring my gangsta roll along with me and allow the other passengers to add to it.

I'd post my latest Credit Card Account Summary that shows the rates, but there is a little too much other information on it. It's for a Visa, an M/C, and an Amex (issued through a financial services company rather than direct). They're called "Prime+0%" accounts. And they are "Rewards" cards, also.
