While many of you hate the NY Times, it has given favorable space to Cruise Critic and our editor, Carolyn Spencer Brown.
They've had five stories about us in 2007.
Here is a recent one from Nov. 11. "Paying a Premium Not to Mingle at Sea."
Read it at :

PS: How many stories has the Washington Times had about Cruise Critic in 2007?
Guess.

I'm sitting here laughing out loud. I can't believe some folks feel it's necessary to defend their readership of a publication. What has that got to do with the thread? Please stay on topic! Nice to see the NY Times lauding Cruise Critic. See how easy that was? :D

The topic is "New York Times Likes Cruise Critic." It's on the HAL board. Whether or not HAL cruisers like the NYT, which supposedly "powers" the Vista class ships, is relevant IMHO.

I am a NYT fan, but I can see how someone who is not used to such in-depth articles might not want to read it on a cruise. I didn't read the NYT once on Noordam. Too heavy for vacation. Plus- I was reading the great books I checked out of Explorations.

I am an avid reader of the NYT, ever since they published one of my daughter's articles in the travel section!

It's a humorous piece about traveling and reading:

Cute! You must be so proud. One of my sons wants to go to Sarah Lawrence...

The opening lines will want you to read the rest.

"As we are being driven through the palm oil groves of Costa Rica, my mother's head is buried in Keen's guide to Central American mollusks. My father is unsticking the clammy thin pages of a biography of Trotsky, and my brother is reading about obscure weaponry used in the Civil War..."

PS And what is Vanessa doing since studying creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College?

The OP referenced something in the Travel Section - not much political about that.

Nope ... there was nothing political about that part of the Original Post. And, frankly, I was happy for the "heads up" on the article. I garner my news from all over the internet, not from a single paper. I particularly liked the message in the graphic illustration:

As for politics ... politics was injected with the OP's Post Script:

How many stories has the Washington Times had about Cruise Critic in 2007?
Guess.

Sarcasm aside ... yes, it is. :)

I think it's great that Cruise Critic is mentioned in the NYT article.

I agree.
As for myself ... I read news from many different sources and from many political persuasions; some people have problems reading POVs that differ from their own (and that's true on all sides of the political spectrum).

I concur. I know how easy it is for folks who are very interested in politics to have a problem separating the editorial policies of the New York Times from the content of its non-political/current affairs sections.

So please stick to a discussion of the content of the article and try to avoid discussing the editorial policies of the NYT or any other paper.

Thanks.

Thanks.:) My major problem with the original comment was that it stated there was a nice article about Cruise Critic and Ms. Brown in the New York Times...There were quotes from Ms. Brown in an article about a re-emerging of multiclass cruising a la QM2.,..It was not an article about Cruise Critic. I thought good journalists like politicians always got their facts straight LOL:D ???

Who is us?

This story quoted a few, including Ms.Spencer doing her job and speaking for a corporate-owned business that provides sponsored message boards to anyone who plays by the rules.
